Please critique pictures of me and my 11 year old chestnut thoroughbred mare, Capony, jumping from 2'9"-3'3". I have been jumping for a year 1/2.

From looking at your pics you seem to have a better position over the bigger fences than the smaller ones.In the smaller pics you look to be almost throwing yourself over the jumps as if you are slightly in front of the movement in some pics.Remember to keep your lower leg underneath you and allow the horses movement to bring you over the jump. Your position in the 3'3 is very good though.

Your position looks pretty good over the jump, you're not over folding and you're giving with your hands but coming into the approach (http://community.webshots.com/photo/549836081/2674049100089564836biZIhR) I'd try and keep your leg underneath you a little more, and sit up with your shoulders back. Means you're in a better position should your horse stop, over jump or run out.

Nice horse, certainly got a pop in her! If you want ot be really nitpicky, in the 3ft3 pic she's taking off on one back leg, lots of grid work and balancing work will help her to really power off her back end.

Your leg has really slid back in the pictures. Make sure that you aren't pinching with your knee, thereby sending your leg sliding back. You can also strengthen your leg muscles by doing lots of two-pointing and standing in the stirrups on the flat, as well as no-stirrups work. These things will help your muscles to strengthen, which will in turn help you to get your leg underneath you, which is very important.

As you mentioned in some of the captions for the pictures, you are jumping ahead in some. You also have chicken wings for example in the picture titles "Hmmmm..."

I think that it would be a good idea to work on your position over some smaller jumps for awhile, until you get your leg underneath you more.

You have a lovely horse! Good job. :)
