Help

I have done the dreaded scissors to the forelock thing.

Having spent months pulling little ponies thick mane - which is now very neat and plaits look wonderful – her dislike to having her forelock pulled ‘forced’ me to use the solo comb and thinning shears.

I have went mad – It is still thick and now bushier looking than before I started.

Any ideas on how to get it into a decent thickness for plaiting.
I do the french plait on her forlock ans there is so much hair there.

Her forelock the hair is really fluffy also – other than gelling it any ideas on how to make the plait look sleek.

All tips very much appreciated

I have just got one of those main thinner brushes, and it works a treat. Look for clippersharp website for a full explanation of them. You just brush through the mane on the 'wrong' side and it thins it out. Does not leave any spikey bits and looks natural. Works on the forelock too.

Yes I will borrow my friend to see if I can rescue the situation.

What about flufffy forelocks tho - as pony is of native type she has a big root area of forelock and when pulled into a plait there is a lot of fluffy hair around the roots. I don't want to clip anything off as her coat is just starting to come out.

I have tried the method of twisting the whole forelock around until it is tight then cutting the end, this doesnt leave such a sharp edge.
