I was just wondering your views on vetting, when i bought shadow i had him vetted however i was thinking when i get my foal would you lot in your honest opinions get it vetted?

I was thinking about it today as i want to be able to get a yearling or 2-3 y/0 and will need to keep money over for vetting and other things he/she might need.

However would you get a weanling vetted?? If i had the choice to get a weanling and if that was what i could only afford then that would be a choice too...

Yes, absoultly, but only a 2 stage - basically heart and lungs and making sure he's not lame or has glaming problems.

Heart murmurs are common (look at poor Megan (Imp's cob) and that will be picked up a vet (or at least it should be)

My friend bought my mares foal from last year and had to get it vetted before Pet Plan would insure him. She had the 2 stage done ...

Yep, re Pink's Lady's post, please get a vetting even to just check the fundamentals. At least if something congenital comes up later you're covered as I am now because the vet missed that Megan has a hole in her heart (albeit small, it's still there and could affect her for performance or for breeding).

Good luck and do post pics of your baby when you find him or her :D
