Does anyone know what this is and how i can make him better.

Could it be the start of COPD? One of my ponies had just started with it as the last owner had bedded her on dusty hay in her stable for 6 months! That was enough for her. She can't be near hay at all or dust. Also she has to be out 24/7 for her cough to go away.

With coughing going on that long I would have that as a first guess.. but only your vet can say, he/she needs to come and listen to the chest.

COPD? It it e serious lungdiseace. Causes can be mouldy hay or halm, urinestank in the stable, too moist in the stable etc.
I really think you should call the vet out for a check.

sounds a bit like something one of my old loan ponies had. Could be COPD tho. get a vet out to check him over...

i would of said the same as madhorses see if there are any other horses coughing, amba had a really bad cough last winter because there was virus going around, i would just check with the vet to make sure its nothing very serious. If it is just a virus your vet will probably perscribe something for your horse. Hope he gets better soon! :)

If there's thick yellowy stuff coming out, could be an infection - try to save some in a clean pot for the vet to test.
Any other symptoms / clues eg raised temp / breathless when not usually / loss of interest in things day to day etc?
