It's official!!! Cherry IS going to have some proper schooling by someone who knows what they're doing. It's a 50/50 situation.... she gets schooled for me and the lady gets to ride and has a project!!! :D I am DEEEEEElighted!!!!
This morning, Cherry has been de-Cob Marley'd... she has had her mane pulled neatly (but still cob-long :) ) and her mane, tail and feathers have been shampoo'd to within an inch of their life.... I felt like spring-cleaning
We also achieved a WALK round the fields... quite an achievement for her as she expects to have to canter and gallop.... we even managed some of it on a loose rein too, when I was confident she wouldn't try and leggit!!!
Whilst walking her round to dry her legs off she spied some of the new plastic "planks" from the new jumps and baulked at them.... hehe.... I think the jumping is going to be eventful!!! I am hoping to vid so will post her exploits later.
Forgot to say that yesterday I actually saw her laying down for the first time ever.... she was in the field and actually allowed me to walk right up and pet her... I would have chanced sitting with her had it not been early morning and long damp grass!!! And then later in the day when I put her bridle on she rested her head on my shoulder whilst I kissed her cheek and whispered sweet nothings... we shared an "ahhh" moment!
Came home from brunch and now back to yard for jumping (spectating) activities.... more later.... :)

wow that's a busy morning.
Sadly we never get to spend the whole day at the yard... but we spent a good 3 hours there this morning. :)
Fed Peanuts a chopped carrot (he's 2 years so I chop them into about 5 pieces for him). Then mucked out, watered, fed him breakfast. Swept the yard as a thank you to Yard Manager/ RI who kindly feeds Peanuts once a day for me as I can only make it up there once a day. Erin helped with all of this, she even loaded the muck into the wheelbarrow while I swept :) there was 3 loads of muck and straw!
Groomed peanuts, while he tried raiding the grooming box for the other carrot.. hehe
and then had to bath his wound from his gelding at the start of last week.
Had lots of cuddles today and a bit of nuzzling. :) he's really sweet natured considering his background.
All in all a good morning!

Guess what??? I had a teenage-confidence moment of my own today!!!!
You all know how terrified I am of jumping in public??? Well - I JUMPED a WHOLE course on Cherry!!!! In front of all the liveries!!! OK, it was only 1ft 6in but I stayed on board and WE WENT CLEAR :D :D :D This is actually more of an achievement than it sounds as sooooo many of the horses and ponies spooked at the new fences and fillers.... I was shaking like a leaf when I actually rode into the ring and I made sure she had a really good look at the fences I suspected may cause a hesitation... here is the only photo of us inspecting the flower-filler before we started... you can see how low the jumps were but there ARE lots!!!

I'm so proud of her... OK we invaded the 1ft6in 11's-and-under class but I wasn't the only adult to do this!!
The camera played up so no photos of Chez posing with clean, trimmed features.... but here is a gratuitous photo of us practising.... a lot higher than the course we attempted... typically it was the only jump we did all day when she left me behind so please excuse the disastrous position

I just wasn't brave enough to attempt the 2'.... they changed the jumps and fillers and I led Cherry round for the girl who was riding her for me and Chez made in plainly clear that she was not impressed with the solid looking fences!!! I told the girl to keep her on a short rein, but it wasn't short enough and she ran out of 3 fences.... jumped each on second attempt and cat-leapt the rest.... (she seems to go much better for me....)
This is my face tonight -> :D <-

Well done! :D
I was exactly the same at my first 'sj for beginners' comp - had never jumped a course, was in with all the kids and petrified! And looked like this afterwards - :D In fact I looked like that for days!
I don't think we'll ever forget the huge sense of achievement (and relief!) from doing something like that for the first time, no matter how far we get with jumping in the future - its a momentous occasion and you are right ro be happy and proud!

Geez = have you been eating the grass too Jane?
There were loadsan loadsan loadsa jumps in that school, never mind the height.
Well done you! What a good girl Cherry.
Trying to think of a Bob Marley lyric to go with your achievements but am stuck.
Re the run out with the other livery ....
- 'exodus = movement of the people'.
Poor effort but best I can do.
No pics of Cob Marley, Jane - no fair:(

Dunno what came over me really! Everyone was really sweet, all saying "Well done" etc... think they realised what an achievement it was!!! (How embarrassing!!)
So all my shampooing was a waste of time.... Chez is out, rugless and the heavens have now opened.... such is horse-life.... ho hum!!! :D :D :D

Woah Jane... fantastic!:D :D I wish I was brave enough to do that. Well done, and respect to you.:D That photo's awesome.
I always say Sennie doesn't jump. That just means noone's ever taught him how. I saw him clear a 1 foot jump by about three feet with my ex sharer on him. I'd never dare....
If they do an under two's class I might be tempted to have a go.:o :o

If they do an under two's class I might be tempted to have a go.:o :o
I did suggest that they rename the class "Under 11s and Nervous-Nellies-over-30" as there were lots of ...ahem... "Mature" riders with pale green faces (myself included) giving the little jumps a go!!!

Brilliant clear round Jane!! Well done :D Although, I can't see the list of essential items needed for hacking I understand it will be shorter, somewhat, for the jumping circuit... sans flare for example?

Hello Imp - where've you been?
Yes, essential jumping equipment... hmm... well I DID have half a can of lager just before. Dom reckons two cans and I would have been attempting the 2ft 9!!!! I have a BP and didn't even THINK to put it on yesterday... naughty me. I really want them to design airbags which surround horses.... rather like hovercrafts... so they move with the animal, but are there to provide a soft landing.... They might impinge on the jumps a bit though!!
