Well... I had a rather encouraging weekend with our horses, Fancy and Savannah (4 and 9 yo).

After a much difficult "leading" problem...they were both well behaved this time.... still a bit "rushy" but not running off...:p which is a lot better, I'd say!

My 10 year old started riding my horse as hers is not yet started. Savannah prooved me right...she was an easy mount....very gentle and such a comfy trot, my RI said! Apart of calling out to her little sister who was let at her stall...she did fine..

The separation anxiety betweent he two are still very much there...as after Savannah was ridden...and turned out for a bit she did nothing but pace and neigh to her little sis.... (you can her little sis one barn over! )

Fancy is hopefuly getting started today.
Waiting to hear from trainer if he is able to at all.

Her leading problem is getting a bit better.... yesterday...my daughters 13 year old riding buddy lead her and she did fine! ON A LOOSE LEAD no less!
No pulling rushy or bolting off!:D

This whole new horse bit is so exciting! and scary! I jut dont know what to expect from one day tot the next....
Now we are working on Savannahs walk... as she seems to need a bit more tuning on the WHOA part...and walking a slower pace....

But I think it was not a bad weekend at all!

I'm so glad it's starting to feel more 'natural' for you now, you'll all soon be so used to each other that it won't be any issue at all to handle them.

Every time you post, I keep meaning to jump on and say what a gorgeous pair of girls you've got by the way:D I'm a huge fan of paints, and would love another one to go with my boy:p

Hopefully the seperation anxiety will start you lessen as they see more of you, and take comfort from you being there, it's a difficult one though, when they're as close as your two seem to be. Keep us updated:)

THANKS MONTANA!

I have to confess..... I am not particularly picky on horse breeds I had intended to get, we had a TB before....but these girls were LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT! Paints are my dream horses and I was just surprised to find them locally! :D WHAT A BONUS!

I am settling a bit too.... anxiety is slooowly wearing off.... for now:p
But there are days I get to feeling so giddy!:p
I GOT MY VERY OWN HORSE! (Our TB was more my daughter's than mine, wanted her to get her one first back then, before me...)
SO THIS IS MY FIRST one of MY OWN! YAAAAY!:D

Oh I am so delighted for you that you had a great weekend. Your girls are a painting when they are together - sooo astoundingly gorgeous.

It is a rollercoaster ride this horse ownership. It is great for you both you have a good sort in Savannah where you can start riding her and having fun as well as all the ground work while you are waiting on Fancy developing.

We have come a long way with our boy in 7 weeks and we just feel so special having contributed to that.

You sound so sensible and have expert help so everything will be just fine.

Keep telling us how you are getting on and plenty more photos please:D

Glad its working out. :) I don't think I could manage with two new horses - found it hard enough with just one (me and mum share him as well!).

Hope all keeps going well :) They are stunning girls xxx

In one week's time I will have owned Cherry for a whole HALF of a year (yes, just the six months).... but I can honestly say that I can't remember life before her now... it must have been so dull and dreary.... she is SUCH a ray of sunshine in my life... even when she is moody and mardy I still love her totally to pieces and blame her behaviour on something I did or didn't do right!!! :D

So I couldn't imagine how it would be with two to cope with! Sounds like you had a lovely weekend ILH28..... double the expense and trouble but double the JOY too....

Thank you all for such support...I NEED all the input everyone cares to share :)

Ah this is true! DOUBLE on EVERYTHING! This is my OH's face when he figured all the expense  HAHA!

We had that discussion this weekend as well...I dont know if he is just shocked, overwhelmed or in denial...but he always looks so surpised each time we talk horse funds...

To be honest,I was primarily thinking of my 10 yo daughter getting a horse, after our TB mare passed in January of this year.:( Then it was OH's idea to try and get 2 IF the price lets us.... and IT DID! Whatta a deal for the two! I know if I didnt do it now, I may not do it anytime soon...I may have chickened out on even attempting such responsibility.... but I am learning...the horses are learning.... it will be good all around:D

Hoping to get you new pics...maybe a video??? (IF I can figure that one out! I am so electronically challenged!:D )
THANKS AGAIN!!!
