What I was thinking of I don't know, but I decided to get on Molly bareback last night:D :D First, I had to construct an extra tall mounting block, as my skills in that department are non-existent. Then, armed with a rope halter and a long line, I clambered aboard - she even stood still while I wellied her backside as I was getting my leg over (pardon the phrase:eek: )
Let her amble about the yard for a while - well, over to the grass anyway, and then took her in the school........and.....before you know it, I was walking round, doing circles, leg yields and even little bits of trot:eek: She is the most comfy horse ever! And she didn't even spook, not even once - she must have known she needed to look after me.
Anyway, tonight, I did the same again:D :D :D :D

Might see what I can do over the weekend Minty, although hopefully by then, she will be modelling a new saddle!

Well Done Bexj. I wish Captain had a comfy smooth bareback ride. Choppy and unbalanced. Does wonders for your back, hip and sides....:p

Well done bexj but you can only join the club if you have piccies to prove it:p
Oh for a comfy trotting horse:rolleyes:

OK but what if your teacher suddenly suggests it is lovely weather and just right for bareback and OH is not there with camera? Lovely lesson yesterday, but still no pictures.
I do my bareback trotting on the lunge. Hope that is allowed at my age. I've decided it is, as going in circles is harder to balance than trotting straight. I shall definitely get pictures. Teacher quite understood proof was needed that anyone dreamed of giving o.a.p treat of no saddle.

I'm still plucking up the courage to join the 'Mature Riders Nervous Nellies Bareback Club' but hopefully will some time this year, if it's not been disbanded by then! :(
Do I actually have to walk and trot around or can I just get Mimi to stand still and have my piccie taken?

I took a pic on my phone when she was grazing, but a) it's not very clear and b) I have no idea how to get pic from phone to 'puter.:o
emma - just start with a sit, and before you know it, you will be wondering what it feels like to walk..............soon, you will be galloping off into the distance, jumping logs and fences.......oh no sorry - that's just my imagination running off with me again;)

Oh, the larks of bareback! I usually ride with a saddle, but I took my friend's son for a hack last week so we doubled up without a saddle to reduce the weight on poor lil Eric! Eric is quite a fat pony, so nice and comfy!
Regards,
Diane
