Just a quickie to say that it was stepdad's funeral today.... emotional but not too sad.... I fell apart when I saw the coffin in the back of the hearse but then I became strong for my mum I managed to stand up in the crematorium to read a eulogy I had typed up with lots of fond memories and anecdotes which got lots of complimentary comments. In the end, over the whole day we did actually have loads of laughs... I know that sounds really awful but Vic would have hated us to be all maudlin and tearful so we feel we gave him an appropriate send-off! It's the first funeral I have been to which started with Frank Sinatra's "New York, New York" and ended with a Barry Manilow singalong.... bizarre but highly appropriate for many reasons....

In the meantime.... I got a text from the lady who is schooling Cherry. The exact wording was "Lunged her 2nite. Introduced her to side-reins and voice aids. Went very well, a lovely willing mare."

Methinks someone is falling for my gal :D Tomorrow night I am going to watch and to start to learn how to get the best out of her. I'm quite happy to take a back seat whilst she gets an intensive start and from the way things are going I think they are both thoroughly enjoying themselves!!!

I'm so proud of her. :D

Very tired now... off to bed... night night all xxx

No wonder you are tired, lovely, what a day you have had.

Sounds like a great send off you gave step dad - glad it went so well and you found the strength for the eulogy. I've written one before but had to get my brother to say it:o

Well done you.

Congrats re-Cherry and her trainer!
It is great if she 'works' her for you and you play for a while and then progress to putting it together with lessons for you - just like we are doing with our big boy.

It'll be fun having a play at the shows in the summer.

Hope you have woken up feeling bright and breezy and ready to move onwards and upwards.

xx

I'm glad you sent your step father off in due style - my grandma always had a cheerful disposition and sense of humour to die for... hence her parting gesture was from Monty Python's Life of Brian... 'Always look on the bright side of life' The Priest had a giggle at the line '..life's a piece of s*it, when you look at it...' :D She'd have curled up at that!!! :D

I'm glad your project lady is turning out ok too; things are on the up and up :D

Hope tomorrow shines a bit brighter for yourself and your family. Take your camera with you when you are watching your Cherry performing. :) We would all like to see how pretty she is..

Glad to hear Vic's funeral wasn't a maudlin affair, and went as well as funerals can, and well done for writing and reading the eulogy- I'm sure wherever Vic is now, he's proud of you.

Brilliant news that Cherry's schooling session went so well... you'll have to watch her trainer- she'll be trying to elope with her by the sounds of it!

Hope you sleep well tonight, and have some lovely Cherry related 'you time' tomorrow- you deserve it. {{{hugs}}}

So pleased it went well. As morbid as it seems, I have been planning out my own funeral because I want it to be a celebration of my life, rather than a teary-eyed and depressing affair. I'm so pleased that you were able to feel that it was a celebration and get everyone singing at the end :) . I know it's very sad and difficult to lose a loved one, so my thoughts are with you and your family. Well done on being so brave for your mum!

And what a plus that Cherry did so well! What a good girl! But definately make sure you have all her identity documents somewhere safe so you can prove she's yours when your trainer runs away with her! :D

Just read this as am away with work at present and not supposed to be doing this... couldn't resist! Jane, really glad the funeral went off so well. You are right to be emotional. Don't worry. Hope the schooling goes well.

Glad it went well and was a celebration of life.

Mum's been telling me all the songs she wants played at her funeral for years now, she's even given instructions about what she wants us all to wear.
