Hi,
I did mounted games for the first time this summer, in Pony Club.
Me and Horse Chick are in the same pony club. We live in Canada.
I agree, pretty much you just have to do tons of practicing!

When doing a Balloon race hold your cane very low to the ground, ride forward dont look down ,and neck rein your pony using the legs as a pushing aid and lean towards the Balloon but keep moving forward as soon as you hear it pop then lift cane higher and go for it

No all Ponies and horses enjoy Games, But for PPC and MGA they must be under 14.2, My son started off on a super 11.2 that was a super star then he moved onto Blue a 26+ 12.2 who has just reited and his new pony is 13.3 he is still getting to grips with it due to it being very fast quick and knows a little bit more than the rider.
The picture below is Emma a friend training a 14.2 ex showjumper to do games.

I've always wanted to ry mounted games with my pony, she is a wiry 14hh mainly TB. I know she was on a Prince Phillip team before I got her, but for the past three years I have been doing loads of dressage and she is very successful (took a while...) would doing some mounted games ruin her dressage (outline, rhythm etc.) or would doing some actually help at all? She is sometimes too sharp so would it just set her off, because I am extremely competitive?

wen going for the balloon always go for the bottom (where the not is tied) cos wen you go for the top i find that it wobbles like mad and you always miss it! I go for the bottom and it seems to work :)

I used to do MGA and PPC games when I was younger and in regards to your question I have to say try it, see how your pony responds and go from there. When I was doing games I was also competing to quite a high level at dressage, and while with one pony it actually helped doing games as it made her more responsive to the aids, my other pony,a PBA, just found it all a bit too exciting and it took a fair while to settle her again, needless to say I no longer used her for games!!

In reply to whoever asked if horses as well as ponies can do mounted games, the answer is a definite yes! I doubt if they could compete, but they can certainly do it fo fun. The last time I was in a gymkhana with sack races, cone races etc, we were all riding Household Cavalry Horses, not one of which was under 16.2hh, and they loved it!
