First of all - a BIG thank you to all for your kind comments regarding yesterday's rather emotional day for me....
Moving on...
I'm So Proud
They're not very good as it is so difficult to capture a decent photo in high sunlight.... but here are some photos of Cherry having one of her schooling sessions tonight.... she is now working in just an eggbutt snaffle rather than the Kimblewick.

Watched her do a little leg yield and an attempted turn on the forehand and turn on the haunches (watched with awe.... I might add  )
Clever girl.... :D
I'm So Ashamed
Rose suggested I walk round on her just to get the idea and it was such hard work! Made me realise what a passenger I have been for the past 6 months and I really am ashamed of myself for being so ignorant that I could have been bringing out so much more from my mare :(
Rose cantered her for the first time and promptly slowed down again!! Not ready to try that again until walk and trot are more up to scratch.
Rose pointed out all the bad bits but was also really positive and is setting herself a target for the next Walk Trot dressage held at the yard which will no doubt be in the next month or so. I have told Rose I am more than happy to take a back seat whilst Cherry gets some intensive work with the same rider - Rose suggested that I get used to just walking her, PROPERLY, up the lane, after she has schooled... that way I am not being watched so can concentrate on giving all the right aids and sitting correctly.
Small steps in the right direction.... :D

Don't you dare be ashamed! You can only do what you KNOW how to do... now you know how to do it differently, you can move forwards together!
You should however be proud... proud of Cherry for looking so wonderful and behaving so well, and proud of yourself for being prepared to take advice, and work on things... there are many who would have been happy continuing to be a passenger!
Keep up the good work!:D

She looks really good :) Well done to Cherry and Rose :D
Don't feel ashamed, sometimes it just takes someone else to ride your horse for you to realise what you want to get out of your horse and how to achieve it (or the other way round in my case ) :)
Hope they both do well in the dressage :) xxx

Ditto what the others said - you're not just sitting back and getting by, you're working on it all, so don't you dare be ashamed! Be proud! Gorgeous pics, she's looking stunning as ever :)

She is looking stunning and working extremely well, you should be a very proud mum!
You should only feel ashamed if you carried on being a 'passenger' without wanting to or knowing to learn more. But you are wanting to learn more, so that is something to be proud about, not ashamed!

gorgeous horse. You should definately not be ashamed, when I learnt to ride it was all kick to move forward etc. My daughter has been teaching me how to ride properly and stop being a passenger! Its just the way I learnt :( Crumbs my legs ached so much after the first few lessons!
good luck with it all

:D :D Gorgeous girl Cherry:D :D
She looks amazing - look at that trot!
Nothing wrong with being a passenger - Cooper excels with RI on top and plods with me on top but hey we are working on it and we will progress together.
You have spent the last 6 months getting to know your girl not pressing all the buttons like she was a machine.
Be proud girl!

What lovely pictures - she really looks the business! It's a long journey this re-learning to ride isn't it!! I think I'm just beginning to realise how little I know - when I thought I knew lots :o But isn't it great when you suddenly have an insight and think " Ah , so that's what they mean - I can feel it". Keep up the good work ;)

Dont be ashamed I spent a year being a passenger. But in that year I was building up my confidence so I dont see it as time wasted. Plus I never expect to have the expereince to school properly. But then I am getting my RI to school Captain and I. ;) Its called learning and it is what owning horses is all about. Lovely photo's of Megan. Doesnt it bring a tear to your eye when you see them all pretty and floaty. :)

Impressive :D I'm quite jealous ;) :p
She didn't go quite like that when I was on her :p
Rose was calling out to me and telling me what to do and it suddenly felt like I had 8 legs and 12 arms!!! Too much to coordinate!!!
PS Just jumped out of my skin!!! Thought there was a bumble bee in the room just come to life... it's Dom laid out on the floor.... SNORING!!!!!

Oh that made me laugh re: the comment about the bee aka Dom!
I've tried hard to make Stumps look 'posh' but it ent working...too much confusion. Our faces are a picture when things go wrong!! If anyone wants any tips on how to plod at 0.5mph we're experts here!
NN - Well done on your no stirrups achievement :D

Oh that made me laugh re: the comment about the bee aka Dom!
I shall tease him mercilessly.... he needs bringing down a peg or two... his head has expanded this evening as feedback from the funeral has revealed that all my mum's friends think he is a hunk!!! I'll soon slap that out of him though!!!! :D

hairycob that is a lovely thing to say - for all of us.
And if some of us ride as passengers, some times, some days, that may be safe and good. The horse doesn't mind or make judgements.

ar she looks lovely in the photos lovely outline. dont you dare be ashamed either, and at least now you have realised you want to do more some people would not bother or care. echo the hairy cob you can only do what you know. i am a novice and it is really hard sometimes in my lesson for RI to explain how something should feel......you can only do your best :)
i always try and do my best on drummer each time i ride him so we both get something out of it and enjoy it.......but......it is only my best for that day (learn something every ride) with what i know x
