Just a quickie for a change.

OH and I headed out on Cooper on Monday by ourselves and had a 1.5hr hack:D :D
He napped twice but was tapped on.
He then got a little frightened at one stage and was encouraged with voice and stroking of withers etc to push on.

Just a little video to see him in action.

Then! We heard this shouting behind us. OH turned around to see a dog hurtling towards us like a bullet:eek:

This was when Cooper was in his 'I'm a bit insecure phase'

I pulled him up, turned his head so that he could see the dog, dog tried to stop, skidded right through Cooper's legs:eek:

The big boy stood still and didn't even flinch:D :D

Dog stood up - thought OH S**T and ran off to it's owner again.

What a good boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cooper's a dimond geezer, as they used to say, and I still do from time to time.

Well done and what a lovely picture! Much as I adore dogs, when they come hurtling up towards you/behind you it can be unnerving! Good on Cooper for keeping his cool

I think it helps if there are dogs around on your yard, there's a huge variety of dogs at our yard (from a Chihuahua to German Shepherd and everything in between) mulling about and all our horses are really chilled when they meet dogs out on hacks. :)

you two look so happy with each other in that photo :)
you sound like you're having a great time. You must be starting to really trust Cooper now. I know an awful lot of horses which would have been really spooked in that situation so well done Coops!

Domane, I think the ears just look big cos of the bleached chav forelock. He needs some diamond earrings in there though:)
My goodness what a gem of a horse! I know I always mention Duch, but last week she saw two german shepherds 50 yards away on a leash, and she did this massive 180 spook on her hind legs, the eejit! You'd never think she was 17, and you'd never think she'd hunted, you'd certainly never think she hacks out with dogs all the time!
He's coming along great, so pleased its going well

Cooper is such a star. Not many horses would of just stood there. Maybe it all happened too quick for him to even realise what had happened. :p

That is a lovely picture, you must frame that and put it on your lounge wall..:D

I'd cerainly need a pair for Sennie's diddy pony ears.;) Do they do them in brown?

Great, Dee, and great to hear 1.5 hour hacks are becoming the norm.:) He is a lovely boy isn't he?

Thanks for the comments guys:D

Thank goodness he is great with dogs. There are 3 in the yard and we have brought our two to meet him - will have to have a family menagerie photo one of these days.

Re the ears:D

I was going to start a 'how big are your horses ears?' thread because his really are huge and everyone comments on them. Several times people have said 'he will grow into them!'
No I don't want him to get much bigger:eek:

You don't think he is and extra large mule do you?;)

Like the earring comment fits:D

It all sort of happened in slow motion - we had plenty of time to see the dog - it really was a

'bless me father for I have sinned' last confession sort of a moment for me:p

Looking forward to hacking in the rain this weekend.

Good boy Cooper, what a star :D I love horse with big ears, folk law has it that the bigger the ears the more generous the horse :)
