hi guys, my OH half came to the yard last night as he really wants to come and watch me SJ TONIGHT  and i said i would be really embarrassed esp as i the only adult doing it, we compromised that if lesson last night went well then he could come and watch along with explaining that before i go in the arena everyone laughs as i go as white as a sheet :)

anyway i went and got drummer in last night and gave him a pet talk about behaving and making me look good... and bless him he did. did some schooling over jumps then 2 really good CONTROLLED rounds of SJ so i was very pleased with him, and was actually nice having OH there, he sat on the grass and chatted to my daughter and helped RI put the jumps up. after lesson he met few more people on our yard, we watched a bit of riding, and then gave drummer a bath and the weather was lovely

was great, i was soooo worried as i am quite nervous (getting better) he knows i am nervous but not sure if he realises how much when i talk of XC comps and galloping on 6 mile hacks every weekend

Well done Sarah. Have you managed to get OH in the saddle yet?

not got him in the saddle yet lol reckon i could one time though, not on drummer though as he is 6ft4 :) i believe he has had a go a couple of times once upon a time. he knows one of my RI's though as when he got back from australia he did not have a job and so he did some maintenance at a local arab farm and they had him leading and mucking out and doing the horses up :)

he is very good at the yard though everyone seems to like him. he carries my saddle in and out, helped me bath drummer, puts jumps up and down, leads in and out all without being asked ;)

Ah the first flights of romance............a long and distant memory.
Are we taking bets on how long before OH starts whinging about the smell of horses, opts out for a night down the pub and gets jealous because of all the time you spend down the stables:p

Wow he's an 'Other Half' already?! :-)

It's great that he's interested in your horse life though. I sometimes manage to drag my partner to the yard, but all he does is stand around (he refuses to help out!) and ask when we can go home again...

Wings - I have one of those as well. He does occasionally accompany me on hacks with his bike but other than that he stands round the yard asking all the liveries if they can make him a cuppa and watches me struggle with bales of hay and water buckets, feigning interest by patting Misty from time to time!!

Mine's watched me twice, once in a lesson on a lovely pony I adored -his comment - you looked like you were riding a donkey. ;) Once on my share horse - his comment - your jumps weren't very big, Selina (his ex) used to jump much bigger. How I didn't punch him I don't know ;) - getting this particular horse over anything without a stop was, at the time, impossible - I was grinning from ear to ear we'd gone over with no hesitation.

He does seem to have had a personality change, has come down to the yard 3 times now, offering help while he's there too ! He's even said that he quite fancies having a go on Ziz, although I think that's so I'm forced to keep my promise and go pillion on one of his vroom vroom bikes.

OH just a phrase not literal i promise lol

yeah sj was ok'ish was pretty nervous er terror kicked in with bloke there and it was the first one of the season at our yard. he realised big time how nervous i was lol  did 1.6 as a warm up was good as went into jump off and wanted to practice tight turns something ive not done and that went really good when i realised how zippy drummer could be, we did unfortunately knock one down though but had fastest time of 17 secs it think :) dipped out of 2ft pairs as was jumping side by side as opposed to pass the whip (which our yard does) ....still terrified, went into 2.3 and knocked one pole, asked to go HC at the end as cant do the 2.6 course and RI said get in and do 2.6 give it a go..........more terror but went in and did it patted and groovelled to drummer 2 mins prior to look after me, gave myself a strick talking to re waiting for the jumps to come to me and dont make drummer pelt round just cos jumps are higher and i nervous.....and we went in and did it and i managed to give him a few pats on the way round as i wanted him to feel good about himself, that is the highest ive jumped as coloured and fillers go, let alone 10 of them  we did clip 2 poles though so not clear round but some of the 2.6 spreads i know it does not sound high but when you have 2 poles on top of fillers and spreads 2.6 wide i was a bit like omg  but just looked up and sat as still as possible and attempted pulling his speed back after each jump and sitting up (not the slowest pony in the world lol) my bloke thought i was pretty gutsy given my nerves at 1.6 lol did not carry a whip either so he potientially one day should be able to do 3.3 rounds we are hoping

2.6 sounds plenty high enough to me! I used to jump quite a bit (the joys of care free youth) but maybe manage to get over 1.6 at the moment, I will get back there again :D

Definitely still the honeymoon period as they call it. Long may it last!! (I'm only jealous). Was only saying to OH that he never buys me presents or flowers any more. So what does he do, comes home with a £1.99 car air freshener and expects me to be grateful!!

I think my OH has only watched 1 of my lessons, we did gymcana games and I won :) it was great to have her chearing me on :D

I on the other hand have been a leader in most of her lessons (although I would never have lead her when she needed it because I would have felt a bit awkward).

I did once do something I regretted though, she was having trouble getting the horse she was riding to start walking from a stand still, so I helped a little to get her moving and then realised I should have only done this if she had asked for help since it undermined her learning how to get a horse moveing, and this is something I will not make the mistake of doing again.

its not fair, I am feeling so left out that I set up my horses dentist (rather dishy ;) ) and one of my childminded kids mums on a blind date, I think they are going out for a drink tonight :D I have left strict instuctions that she is to arrive early in the morning so I can have all the gossip :D they are both such nice people I hope they get on :D

well D&D I think you should hang onto him, he sounds great :D

I remember on mothers day my kids bought me a dvd that Daddy wanted :D ;) if OH walked in with flowers and chocolates, my response would be "what have you done now?" :D
