ive got my eye on a treeless western saddle, tho no one is buying my trekker dressage saddle thats on its second time on ebay:rolleyes:
its just occured to me that she will need a different girth as its got western rigging not an english girthing attachment.
so, how big a cinch will i need?
it it measured the same way as a dressage girth?
i will probably try it on a few horses (if i can), but it will mainly be for ceryn and susie. ceryn is 14hh, and susie is 12hh.

If it doesn't have any, you'll need to add a cinch attachment to both sides- I don't know if western saddles come rigged over there or not.
You have a lot more room to choose once you've got the attachments (you certainly can't attach a cinch to the rings without them!)- I don't know the absolute sizing, but you can easily go large or small.
Generally, you want something that leaves maybe about a foot or so of strap attaching the cinch to buckle once you've tied everything up (I wouldn't advise using the cinch buckle like a regular buckle)

Converters? Are you reffering to something specific? In reality, you can use the cinch latigos (haven't looked up the actual name, so latigo it is!) on anyything with a buckle, which is what I've seen for a lot of dressage girths.

the saddle im looking at already has a strap to attach the girth onto, so id just need a girth.
the converters are cashel converers and you can change western to english and english to western

Yep they are pretty similar to a dressage girth, you need to make sure the buckles sit clear of the elbows, Bo has a 24" dressage girth but its a little short, his cinch is 28" although I can get away with a slightly longer one, esp. in the summer when he is a little rounder :D Do also take into account that the bucles on a cinch are quite a bit bigger so you may need to allow another inch or two to make sure the bottom of it clears the elbow.
