My arab/NF mare I have had for four years is a real jealous madam, especially after the IDx mare we have had for a year had a foal. (as I often keep saying!!;) )
Pony is an angel IF I see her first before the other two but if I don't she is a complete nut and forgets all our schooling and has been known to bolt with me!!! It can take a lot just to get near as she sulks off to the far end of the field and won't be caught without treats and coaxing!!
EVERY TIME I work with the foal she goes ballistic charging about the field!! But I can do what I want with foal's mum without upsetting Pony.
So maybe quality time may help if she is no longer sore. Do it from the ground grooming and playing in a school in hand or freeschooling perhaps before riding.
Good luck at the show!!
What's unity?

Please don't describe your pony as evil, she probably isn't:( She just needs to be worked with a bit so you understand where she's coming from.
Evil is rarly applicable to ponies, It upsets me to hear them described as such.
I have known truly evil dogs but never a truly evil pony!
Labelling her like this will only reinforce it in your mind, she's not evil or you wouldn't be riding her.:D

Maybe she just senses you don't like her!
Wally - I don't really believe in evil dogs either; I just think it's easier to label dogs "evil" because they're natural chasers and biters rather than herbivores/flight animals. And inappropriate breeding has probably taken a greater toll on the dog population.
I think this thread emphasises the fact that human beings tend to take things very personally, where animals don't mean it so. If a horse tries to bite or kick you, or if a dog growls at you, there's usually a reason for it, whether or not we see the reason at the time. Usually it's because we ignore their various warning signals, or simply don't understand their ways. But we assume the animal should give us the benefit of the doubt, and when things go wrong we say they're "evil" or they "hate us".
If occasionally they don't give us much or any warning, it's like as not because they've had bad experiences with humans in the past, and who can blame them for that?

The dog to which I refer was a victim of man's intervention, he was bred all wrong!! His mind was aggressive, his owners were weak! Okay it was not his fault, but he was not a dog to be trifled with!
A 12 stone, badly bred Rotweiler with ambition and no manners can only be described as "misunderstood" in the most generous terms.

I agree to a certain extent, but I still think that to label any animal "evil" in the full sense of the word is unfair. Sometimes man just reaps the consequences of his own actions, and when that happens I have no sympathy. Weak owners shouldn't buy Rottweilers with dodgy temperaments, and dumb, greedy breeders shouldn't supply them. In the end the dogs suffer as well, and the same goes for horses with temperament problems caused by thoughtless breeding.

Are Rottweilers as wildly popular in other countries as they are here in the US?
Before the "Omen" movies in the seventies, I'd go to the breed ring at dog shows and see maybe five or six Rotties. Now they're as common as poodles.
I completely agree about unscrupulous breeders - they've gone a long way towards ruining the reputation of what was once a fantastically dependable dog with a solid temperament. Grrr!
