My fondness of ponies is developing into an obsession now.
I wrote a little advert the other day, looking for a horse to school and play about with once I finish college, yet as I wrote it I found myself writing 'really like ponies', 'would prefer a pony' and checking the 'wanted: pony' box.

Found a great picture today as well, from back in the days when I was actually small enough to ride a 12hh pony, and realised he's still my ideal horse! He's liver chesnut (favourite colour) with a blaze (cant not have one!), and a mad, unstoppable welsh B :p who could work nicely when convinced to stop! I borrowed him off a lady we knew for pony club and always felt really priveledged because he was a private horse .
Of course, I was 9 at the time!

I have my riding lessons on a 14hh connemara and I think I may have to steal him soon - he's also liver chestnut with a blaze and stockings *drool*.

If Im ever horse shopping again rest assured there's a good chance I will become Adult with Pony. :D

I know exactly what you mean, if I get another equine it will be a pony, I love Ziz and don't mind riding bigger horses but I'm becoming pony obsessed at the mo.

I love ponies! They have such huge personalities....

Sadly my weight prevents me from riding them :(

If I could just loose a stone.... :)

I love ponies, they most often have the biggest characters :D Last year I used to take out hacks on a little 13.2 pone whilst the clients were on 16.3 beasts :D My little thing could beat them all though! grrr, if I didnt eat for 2 weeks I think I could just about not squish her :D

a stone wouldn't take you long!

And having started 'helping' to look after my daughters 2 year old section a gelding. I'm in love with him!
2 weeks we've owned him and he neighs a good morning from his stable to me, and is great. Shame he'll only reach 12.2 hands - although is big jointed according to my RI/YM so maybe he'll be like digby the dog! hehe and keep growing for me! ;)

If not.. I'd love to hope I could lose enough to be able to ride him.. but i've a fair journey ahead of me yet! It would be ideal though as I don't really have the cash for a pony and a horse.

I'm currently on a 14.2 section D.. and while i'd have always thought myself as wanting bigger (15.2-16.2) i feel so happy on her AND i can get on from the ground if i have to! (dodgy hip, makes it fun) she seems to 'think' like a pony too.. something i'd forgotten as different, being used to riding bigger things

Now if only they stopped with the silly age limits for pony classes I'd make sure my own was just like her! :D

Hmmm... suure... I love chocolate! Nearly fainted yesterday through lack of sugar... I think there may be something wrong with me! ;) Anyways, I will be definately be trying! Sod loosing weight to look good for the boys, ponies are far more important :D

if you eat chocolate your sugar levels 'spike' and then 'crash' when it's gone.. and your body demands more.. I have suffered with blood sugar problems for years. If you eat protein (meat, cheese etc) and complex carbs like brown bread/brown rice, and generally low in sugar then you won't get the spike.. OR the crash! ;)
Believe me it works! I'm still losing now, and have lost over 2.5 stone. :) Just got far too many to go before I could ride a 12h pony! Can now ride a 14h pony though. :D

Ponies were the reason I lost about 3 stone 2 years ago - I had never managed a successful relatively healthy diet before. Then I bought Ziz - 15/2 id/conn who is lovely. Vet at the vetting said I'd never have to worry about my weight riding her.

Good for you!! :D it's my reason for saying no to sweets/pudidngs and ice-creams at the moment! ;) and sticking with that till after he's backed next year! maybe by then.... :p ;)

Unfortunately 2 stone did creep back on - but since I discovered she's arthritic I am trying to go back the other way again !

I think Im okay on chunky ponies.

Here's me last summer on a 13.1hh welsh - she was only 4 the poor beast, I only rode her for about half an hour!

And the horse I rode all week, 2 hours at a time. She was 13.2hh but much older (and a bit mad and marish);

Foggy day on my hossie, who now must measure in at about 14.3hh (and not the 15.2hh I bought him as!!!)

I dont mind riding bigger horses, but why bother when there's all these great little ponies around who are usually cheaper to buy, keep and get back on! :D

I just love ponies. There is just something about them that makes them irresistible!

A girl at my barn commented the other day about how much she envied all my colourful saddle pads. She wished that she could put them on her horse, but they would just look silly on anything but a pony! I just love to have a nice bright saddle pad and matching boots on Dolly. It makes her even more cute.

I don't think I ever really want to "move up" to a horse. I love the pony's strides and the pony's jump. I only wish I could have another (or a few more) pony of a different colour and size (for a bit of variety). Sigh... at least I can dream...

Jojo! You have to come up here and we should go see if we can grab a ride on the exmoor ponies! :) We can test the theory that I never look too big on anything! (Also we should go find some clydesdales to ride to check the other end of the theory!!!)

Ponies are great! I can definately see the appeal. (I'm going through an 'I want a HUGE horse' phase at the moment though -sorry guys!) :D

I always thought i'd get something bigger but I feel so 'right' and comfortable on my 13.2hh and 14.1hh ponies, and at 5'3 and 23 I don't look too big for either on them. People are always commenting at college that they wish they could ride ponies, plus as has been mentioned, they're a great incentive for losing weight! I've lost 9lbs recently and still going and i'm sure the ponies apprectiate it! Mind you, I still have to stand on a box to plait/pull their manes!

I love ponies too! Don't think I would ever have a horse:confused: In fact the smaller the better. Little Angel should make about 12 - 12.2, can't wait until he's old enough to ride:D I lucky in that I'm a short a**e so don't feel forced onto strapping great things. :D

oh yes - it is the only time my shortness is a benefit !!!

I love ponies and luckily I'm only 5ft so fit quite nicely!

At my RS one Christmas in my adult lesson we had pony club type games for fun - I was on an ickle pony as usual and all the others were on big hosses. Great fun tearing round, cutting corners, bending round poles and galloping madly! The big horses couldn't get out of their nice stately paces, so we WOULD have wiped the board had it not been for rider error, ahem :)

Ponies are fun!
