I took Milly round the jumping field last night and I loved it! OH took a few vids and pics and when ive watched them back there are a few obvious things I need help with. It seems that everything seems to turn out when I jump a fence - the elbows go out and so do my toes :o
Can anyone help me out with this please? Any other comments on the pics/vids would be most appreciated :)

The vids are at Pixparty but when ive try to watch them back, a tiny square of the video comes up, does anyone know how to fix that? http://www.pixparty.com/katieb/index.asp?type1=friends Password is milly.

Katie, the pictures look great :D But as a fellow duck footed person I can completely sympathise with your problem (for want of a better word ;) )

I have found my new stirrups and boots have helped me greatly in keeping my toes in but as this isn't an option here, it's pointless me mentioning it

On the 2nd pic your elbows seem to be in not out so that's fine but it might be the angle, on the 1st one your toes and elbows are pointing out quite a lot ;) I'm not sure whether it is the angle of the 1st photo but from the front angle it looks a bit to me like your standing more than folding which I find helps to make me do the whole duck impression :D I may be completely wrong though.

Your stirrups look quite long for jumping as well which might effect your leg position.

Hope it helps probably not (but when I finally manage to get up to meet milly maybe I could bring my boots and stirrups and you could try them if your a size 5 :) )

Katie, you look great. It bought a big smile to my face to see you look so happy chuck. Who care's about the sticky out parts when you and Milly are so obviously happy:) :) :)

I think I am standing up in that first pic, iits hard to tell but it looks like there is no bend in my knee. Im glad youve said that about the length of the stirrups, i have been wondering that myself, ill put them up a hole or two next time.
Aww thanks Casey, that means a lot :)
I cant do anything with these vids and its annoying me cos they would give a better view. If anyone manages to view them please let me know.

only thing i'd say is possibly shorten your stirrups a hole or two and see how you get on. i always ride short for jumping, my instructor usually hikes my stirrups up a good 3-4 holes as she says if anything goes amiss you will get pinged away from the horse that way

but i have to agree with casey, the smile on your face is all you need :D you two look great together. its so nice to see you happy.

Kate, Casey and eventerbabe are right, you both seem to being enjoying yourselves, look at Milly's ears there right forward in both pictures and to me that's a sign of happy horse who's enjoying being ridden by you and their work :D so that should be the main thing that both of you are enjoying your time together in the nice summer evenings we're having :D You should pat yourslef on the back your obviously doing something right if she's that happy :D

Both of you keep smiling and don't worry too much about toes and elbows either ;) :D You'll do great in your next show :D

The pics are great! I love the smile :D Seems like you both enjoyed it which is the most important thing :) Echo the others, def think your stirrups could go up a bit as you need to be able to have a bit more "fold-ability" :D Overall looks v good though :)

Aww, its great to see you boht soo happy together!
i would definatly put your stirrups up 1-2 holes, as it looks like theres very little bend in your knee which will affect your 'folding' position. But your giving a good realease, and your looking forward. I used to suffer from sticky out toes, but it was because my strrups were to long, and i didn't have enough balance in my knee's, which caused me to grip with me lower calf, therefore turning my toes out, and making the horse i was riding shoot off after landing.
Elbows just try relaxing your shoulders, as you guide up your horse's neck over the fence, it may be your a bit tense and 'squaring' your shoulders which will tighten the muscles, and make your elbows stick out!!

Glad to see you having lots of fun though! :)

Dont Worry About Your Feet Because You And Your Horse Look Wonderful!!!:D

But if you do want to worry about them just think that something is pushing against you or just keep sqeezing your horse:confused:  :)

That is what my mum keeps tellin me :D
