Ok nxt week am having a go at polo. Am not sure if i'm just riding a polo horse or having a lesson (complicated...) Anyways....I know absolutley nothing about polo and am slightly nervous.
For start my mum went and said to me "Don't you dare fall off, polo is a dangerous sport." So not exactly the most confidence building comment. I'm 18, 8ish years riding experience.
So...can anyone tell me anything about playing polo and build up my confidence a bit!

oh dont be scared at all it is soo much fun and the instructor will only go slowly with you at start. The ponies are AMAZING so well trained, first you wont even hold a stick because you need to get used to the saddle and reins etc and stopping starting. Was quite bizarre first time i got on they have no knee rolls at all!
then you get the stick and its more difficult dont hold it too tight because your arm will kill afterwards and you have a go at hitting the ball.
Theres no way you'd be playing a match first time on a polo pony because it just wouldnt work, if you starting giving them wrong aids like kicking they stop listening and just stand around!
Have a good time and let us know how you get on!

How fun! I've never played Polo myself, but do play Polocrosse. It's sooo much fun. The hardest part for me is bending over and scooping up the ball, but I imagine hitting the ball would be just as hard. The best part is running down the field while chasing the ball:D No advice, but good luck :D

Thanks you guys. Will tell you how it goes! Have given me a bit more confidence and I am so glad you don't think they'll just shove me on a horse with a stick....
cvreagzayn - Is polocrosse like horseball? When you have a ball with lots of like handles all over it and you gallop around and have to reach down to grab it. Then i think to score a point u have to put it through a net?
Have seen that at somewhere like Olympia, looked amazing! (I do that on my horse, to get the bolt up from the gate, while still on her! lol!)
