My size what size pony would suit me?

Just a question.
I adore Kerry Bog Ponies. So cute but so small. :o

Im five feet two inches (5'2") and weigh around 8 and a half stones.

Now the Kerry bog Pony size range from: quote from kerrybogpony.ie

Size: This is a small pony evolved as such because of its use as a draught animal in the bogs of Kerry over the centuries. Thus, the height of the Kerry Bog pony is 11-2 Hands High for Stallions and Geldings and 10 to 11 HH for Mares.


Now, realistic, a gelding would be ideal because height is up to 12hh.

So what do you think, what the mininum height and maxmiun height of pony would suit me.

Any comment welcome.

Hae just looked at your link, why have I never heard of these ponies before?! they are so cute - yet another pony on the wish list I think!! :D

Anyhoo, from what I have read on their website they look to be strong hardy ponies, I would have thought with your size and weight you would be ok on a 12hh (10 might be pushing it though! :p )

Im 5'5'' and 10 stone and im getting an Exmoor pony in the autumn (so bout 12.3hh) I've had 2 before and found that they are so stocky that you don't tend to look underhorsed once you are on :)
Imagine you would find the same is true of the Kerry ponies.

You'd be fine on one, they are, supposedly related to Icelandics, they LOOK just like them, it's uncanny.

hi ive not heard of these ponies but i regulary ride my daughters sec a 11.2 pony and im 5ft and 8 and half stone,he carries me no problem, but i look really silly on him and people say i look cute which is not what i want to here when im 30 years old.lol:o

My main ride is a 12.3 Icelandic and she takes my leg up well.
Also have very sweet 13.3 hand fjord mare. Both have no problems with me riding them.
Am 5'7" tall.

See no reason why a 12 hand Kerry Bog pony couldn't handle you riding him . ;) You being 5'2" tall... say anything from 11 to 12 hands would be fine with the build those ponies have.

Youd be fine on them i have a 12.2hh welsh b stallion (riding type not old fashioned stamp) and i compete dressage on him im 5.3 and just under 9 stone but i school all the ponies from 10hhs upwards!!!!!!!
