reading miss fliss's thread about the horse shes going to see, having a look around that website and seeing those horses that all have heavy blood in them and they are lovely!:D
im really thinking about putting amber my sports horse in foal, shes idxtb and 16hh, id like something of a similar height, maybe slightly smaller.
ive looked at haffies, iberians, welsh cobs, irish draughts and other sports horses.
anyone got a sports horse crossed with a heavy breed?

I'm putting my sporthorse mare in foal to an ID. I want a coldblood stallion because she is very hot blooded and I don't want a TB type foal.
I chose ID since she is an ISH it will compliment the ID breeding she already has.
This dude - Euro.

You'll end up with a warmblood type by crossing your mare with a heavy horse, probably just a little bit more substantial then your mare is.

i went off the ID idea, as im not 100% on her bloodlines and dont want to put her in foal to her brother or something!
the only one i really likes was by her dad anyway:rolleyes:
ive found a beautiful black 16.2 welsh cob not far from me, he looks like a freisen, beautiful.
the only problem with the heavy breeds is that they are all huge, so i wont get my slightly smaller one. i fancy a connermara, but i havent founf one that takes my fancy.

I had similar problems, loved a few stallions (all by the same lines as my mare so a no go!)Then finding a nice stallion small enough was a pain. Even this guy is the max height.
Connie was my alternative, they make an excellant cross.

Then go for a fresain!16.2hh is a bit big i think for a welshie all though i cant be sure, do you have any pics of your mare for us? What about a spanidh horse, they have lovely temperments and would compliment the rest of her bloodlines.

there is no upper height limit to a welsh d, so hes ok, i have a black section d of my own and i love her movement and looks, but it just the price of the stud fees!
i have looked into iberian horses, theres a very nice mahogony bay andi, but again he is 16.1.
(plus id really love a chestnut!)
