Hi all,

I read somewhere an explanation to reading the serial number on a circle y saddle that the groupings of numbers told when it was made, what size bars it has etc.

Got the answer, thanks.

Hi, not sure of the serial number. But this website should explain it fairly well.:)

Cheers, folks, that site is great - so much explanation on how to measure them.

Jessey, sadly I didn't get exactly what I was looking for but finally got an email back from Circle Y who told me that the saddle was made in 11/97 - figured that one out myself;) it has semi qh bars (07) (08=fullqhb) and 'the middle number' indicates the style of seat - in this case it was an equitation seat. Unfortunately the writer didn't specify which set of numbers were the 'middle numbers'.........

Anyway, as I STILL haven't got anyone to measure my girl (fingers crossed for next Thursday at 7.30pm) I am no further forward as I haven't a clue what will fit her......besides I know a Circle Y saddle for sale that I REALLY love, that is just waiting for me (or I hope it still is)to get my backside into gear and get measurements!!);)

:D Yes I know of one, still sat there doing nothing ;)

Interesting about the numbers, that will be very handy, I am now riding Bo in his dressage saddle cause I don't think he will be out doing western again (certainly not in the short term) but my youngster is in need of a saddle, she is far wider than Bo, so the hunt begins again.

A much, much wider western :D she is part bred but you would never know she looks very like an old fashioned bulldog type and has a huge square profile to her wither/back :D
