I normally use my horse for Eventing, but this year we are planning to enter some WH classes and Showing classes as well.
However, I cant decide which showing class to enter him in. Would you class him as a 'Riding Club horse' or 'Hunter'. If I entered him into Riding Club horse would it be ok to wear a snaffle? As I know with Hunter classes that would not be acceptable.

Hope someone can help :)

Do both. Just stick a ribboned browband on for the riding horse class. Most people do that at local level anyway.
Snaffle is fine (for both) if the class states Novice, but you'll find that in both open classes it's more common to use double reins. Go for whichever your horse goes best in, but if you do use a pelham make sure you use two reins. :)

Its open classes that I usually enter in. It is a bigger show than at local level. So if I do hunter - i will use my pelham with double reins? what about a double bridal? And if I do RC horse I use a pelham and get a ribboned browband x x

I read the first post slightly wrong, sorry.
Still do both and go for plain tack and a tweed in both, and I would use a pelham/double, whichever he goes best in.
RCH involves a small jump, and just has to show that the horse is suitable for riding club activities. So having done eventing, you'll be fine.

For RC horse you should be in a plain browband, it's Riding Horse you'd need a coloured one for. I agree you ought to enter both RC horse and Hunter, the pelham with two reins (or a double if you prefer) for the hunter classes and whichever bridle he goes best in for the RC horse.

Thanks for all your help! :) I can only enter ONE class though. Any ideas which would be better to enter by looking at the picture of my horse? x

How big is he and how good are his paces? What is he like with other people riding him, incase the judge rides? Does he go better in two reins or just a snaffle?

He is 16hh and goes very well with other people riding him, but he does not have very loose paces, he is quite short. Checked the class names again and the Riding Club class is titled "Riding Club Large riding horse" so does that mean it is a "Large riding horse" class or 'Riding Club horse" hmmm. Thank you for all your help! x

Ring the secretary and ask her what the class is!
I would imagine he'd do better in Riding Club Horse, due to his short paces and the fact that there are likely to be some huge horses in the Hunter class which could overshadow him a little, but I'm not sure what Riding Club Large Horse is, could think of several possibilities.
