I have a very excitable mare and I would like to try using a homeopathic remedy for her that's if there are any remedies for this type of behavior/symptom.

There are remedies (such as Natricum Muriaticum) but you'd have to take advice from a homeopathic vet. Homeopathic preparations are tailored to the individual and he'd ask you questions about your horse and give you something to suit her. I work in a homeopathic hospital but wont be going in now until Tuesday. You could look in the phone book for homeopathic vets. I think there is one in Sussex who could give you advice.

How about trying the Bach rescue remedies? I've used this with my boy in the past and found it seemed to help. If you can identify the cause of her excitement, there may be a specific remedy (rather than the generic one) which may work best, or a mix?
I've also tried aromatherapy with Murph - not sure how much it solved the problem at the time, but he seemed to like sniffing the oil when I offered it to him. He'd not long moved to the yard at the time and was a bit unsettled - I tried lavender, frankincense and another one I can't remember... frankincense was the one he liked best.

The reason for the excitement is usually other horses.

Hmm, in that case not sure which remedy would be best! The only ones I've used have been the generic one (for both of us - horse for separation anxiety and me for general nerves) and mimulus (for me - for fears of specific things). I think there's someone called "Flowergirl" on NR who is a Bach rescue remedy practitioner - you could try sending her a pm?
