Has anyone got any good recipes for this? I love the mane and tail one and wondered if anyone has a fly one, not the one with the Avon stuff in it though:D

One fly spray recipe I've heard of is this:
1 cup of vinegar
1 tbs of Skin So Soft
1 cup of water
1 tbs of dish soap
Other than fly spray, I've heard that flies hate marigold and garlic -- some people put pots of marigold around the barn in the summer and add garlic to their horses feed. I haven't heard how effective those are though

I do a mix of vinegar and dishwashing liquid which smells terrible but is very effective. I also put garlic in the horses feeds but I don't think it helps really

here's a new recipe i'm trying-
100ml citronella
1 pint vinegar
2ltrs cold strong tea
i add a bit of methylated spirits and washing up liquid to help disperse the citronella oil through the liquid
my usual recipe is:
15ml citronella (but i usually double this)
4 tblsp vinegar
2 tblsp meths
2 tablsp washing up liquid
1 cup of strong cold tea
add water till you've got 2ltrs
i chuck in a bit of lavender and tea tree too

Equal parts cold tea, malt vinegar, water plus oil of citronella. This last from the pharmacy. They all swear by it on the yard but the WH eats garlic powder so doesn't need it.

Garlic does work but you have to feed it all year round so it really gets embedded in the horse's tissues and don't give the expensive mixes. 100% pure garlic powder is the one to go for
