Anyone else noticed this?
Having been a long term user of cortaflex for our aged pony I was rather confused on buying the last tub to find the scoop inside held twice as much cortaflex as those scoops provided previously. What is going on? Both tubs say the scoop provided is a 7gm scoop but both clearly cant be.
Unfortunately neither scoop is actually marked with what it holds in gms. The older smaller scoop was like a half sphere shape and the newer larger one is like a square shaped U and holds twice as much. I have emailed equineamerica@btconnect.com to try to get some clarification.
I'm a bit miffed really - rather a major blunder I feel!
Any new users are going to find it very expensive using it at double the dose (or have we all been half dosing for years??????).

The scoop in my most recently bought tub is the same size as always, though of course I don't know how long the tub was sat in the shop for.
Thanks for the warning, I'll hang on to this scoop when the tub runs out, just in case. I don't give a full dose now anyway, I use about 3/4 of a scoop per day and get the same results as I did will a full scoop.

Have just had an email asking for my phone number so they can ring me. Hopefully will hear back soon and can let you know the outcome.
Not quite sure how they are going to explain this one though?

i have noticed this as well, I kept the scoop from the old tub the one before, but lost it on this one so am using the "new" one and it seems to be going down quicker............... there is a line about 5mm form top of scoop that I try to line it up to.
Let us know the reply

bit ot but how long does a tub of cortaflex keep for. Does it have a use by date on it.
Just asking as my friend was going to buy the massive tub , which would probably be about half a year or a years supply but she wasnt sure it woudl keep that long.

The scoop change thing crossed my mind but not enough to question whether I was giving a different dose:o The new one *is* much bigger isn't it.
I don't think giving a larger dose does any harm, it's probably just a waste of money:rolleyes:
Very interested to know what answer you get back:D

Had a look at my scoop today (which is the round, little one) and it's just a normal 15ml scoop, but see-though, not blue like all the others you get.
Maybe they've diluted the cortaflex down a little?

Hi
Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I had a phonecall back whilst I was out pony shopping so couldnt post straightaway.
The lady I spoke to was very apologetic and said it appears that I have got a larger scoop which is usually provided with the cortaflex HA which I dont use, I use the normal stuff. I have been asked to provide them with the batch number and use by date (so they can see if its a whole batch problem I guess).
To clarify the normal cortaflex should have a scoop which looks like a large contact lens shape (or half sphere) mine has 1tsp and 1tbsp marks on it.
The larger (wrong!) scoop is like a saucepan shape and holds twice the amount you need for a regular daily dose.
If you think you have the wrong scoop get in touch with equine america (I think I put the address on my initial post) providing them with the batch number and expiry date.
Also double dosing won't of affected any horses or ponies but just a bit more costly for the owner!
Big of a major blunder if this is a whole batch thing:eek:
Would be interested to know how many of you have the saucepan shaped scoop?
Maybe worth posting this on other sites if you think it will help?? I only really use this site.

I buy three tubs at once for myself and two friends, we all have the saucepan shape one. Are they going to compensate us at all? If we are using double dose that is 2 months use for a 4 month tub?? Well spotted and thiank for highlighting it

I think this is why they want the batch numbers so they can see exactly when the problem occured - clearly they will all have the same batch number, or at least concurrent batch numbers. I doubt there will be compensation as anyone could just say they had the wrong scoop etc etc but if they narrow it down by people providing the 'bad batch' number maybe so?

worth a try tho, if you wrote to them complaining i bet you would get some sort of gift voucer or something, its better for them to do that than risk their reputation! I have the right one luckily!
