At last minute notice, the riding school I'm helping at heard I get a day off tomorrow and has roped me in to write for the judge in the BD affiliated tests. I've searched old threads for advice on what to do, abbreviations to use etc and I'm really looking forward to it now! :D
The tests are prelim up to medium so I don't want to look disrespectfully scruffy.
What should I wear?

The only time i have written for a judge I wore jeans and polo shirt, but then the judge was my OH so dont suppose that counts. Come to think of it,at all the BD comps I get dragged to the writes seem to wear smart jeans and tops. All very casual.

I normally dress smart casual, if its a judge I dont know about then I dress fairly smart, but always so that I can be cool if its a hot day aswell.

Actually should be writing at Hastingwood on Sat, hope its not boiling hot!

Ok I'll try for light jods, blue sleeveless cotton top (with a collar so looks smart-ish), black half chaps and jod boots. Thanks for your help :)

MeMe I hope you enjoy Hastingwood and have good (but not *too* good!) weather :D

i must be a right scruff! ;) when i wrote for my dressage instructor at a BD comp i had on black jods, a polo shirt and my MH high riders. i'd gone to the competition straight from a hack! enjoy it, i loved writing for a judge and it really gives you an insight into what they look for.

That's what I'm hoping. I doubt I'll dare glance up from the paper first time :D but the RS owner says they always need writers, so hopefully if I don't muck it up, there'll be lots of other opportunties and as I get better at it I'll be able to watch and learn more :)

Gosh, I never really thought about what to wear. I figure if you don't look like a bag lady you're fine ;) No-one will judge you, you're just there to do a job, so any type of clean and tidy should be fine!

having written more times than i care to remember, i have always worn jeans polo shirt etc, and having spent many a freezing day in mid winter with a blanket over my legs and 2 coats on trying to keep warm, anything goes;)
i have written for a judge at affil' who had bright pink hair and more rings in her face, ears etc than my front room curtain rails:eek:
so i don't think you have to worry what you wear:D :D

Thanks to everyone for your advice! I've had a FANTASTIC day and will be helping out in future too. To anyone considering writing for a dressage judge, it's well worth doing and you really will learn loads from watching the tests and listening to the judge's comments :)
