Is it possible to post anonymously or as a guest to avoid being identified by people who may know you 'in real life'? Nothing sinister promise but wouldn't like to upset anyone.

I don't think so - I just logged out to try to post here as a guest, but it asked me to log in.

I have seen some posts by 'guests' in the archives, I think that option must be disabled now?

At one time you could but as far as I am aware you cant now unless you log onto the board. Only way round it would be to change your user name but that does not always work

I have another username on here which I use when I think I might be identified from my posts.
I change my typing style (which kills me - I have to leave in loads of spelling mistakes and the odd text speak word *shudder*), and I change the sexes of everyone involved to be the opposite way around, or make up fake names.
Werehorse figured it out straight away though :p She obviously knows me too well - sent me a PM straight away saying 'When did Hector have a sex change operation? Is it Hectorina now?'
It's actually where my horse got his nicknames Hectorina and Hectoria. :p
Ive not used it a great deal - usually just when someone has really really annoyed me and I need to come and ask advice, but knowing how many lurkers there are on here I needed to make sure I wasnt recognised.
Other than that I just tell the truth :)

Jojoba - what a clever idea! Of course now I'm sitting here trying to get my mind around the fact that folks I think are two or three different people are actually the same one - now I'm dizzy.:p
Seriously, though, I've had the same dilemma, when I've really wanted to post for advice on a sensitive issue and didn't dare for fear there are lurkers from my yard about.
