I don't know which was the best present over Christmas - Hannah having her first ride out in the carriage behind Benny on Christmas Eve (we'd kept it a suprise, so she hadn't even seen her pony tacked up in his driving gear!), or my husband - who has been walking out with me while I practice driving and had a couple of short trips in the carriage coming home - reading a driving book to check exactly what height to have the tugs, mentioning to me 'was I sure I could get the right number of fingers under the noseband' and saying we must try to get another couple of drives in before we go back to work. This from a man who 6 months ago wouldn't have known how to put a headcollar on, and certainly wouldn't have walked into a stable and wrapped his arms around a pony to give it a Christmas cuddle!

Oh, and he noticed I'd bought Benny a new rug the other week and didn't even ask how much it cost.

I am in heaven!

My man hates horses. Cows and sheep he can see the point of, but horses and riding.....but get him in the cart and he takes on a different persona!

I even got him doing weddings with me, putting on a suit and all that, just so long as he got to ride in the Landau or Brougham on the way back... strange things men!
