Well its happened, today at my lesson I had my first fall and I wasn't the horses fault it was totally my fault which sucks cause I could have prevented from falling lol
Has anyone ever fallen off?
I feel like I failed myself cause I was doing so well going for like a year with out falling once and today was my first fall.

Don't worry, everyone falls off! You can't be a rider without falling off atleast once. I remember a practise for a teams event, half the team (including me!) fell off, I think the instructor was a bit concerned at how we'd do after that one

Don't worry nasha, it happens to everyone.
I've fallen off three times so far in 4 years (have quite good balance haha :p ) and had many close calls (especially jumping when Misty chucks in a refusal!! )
It's bound to happen!
Hope you're OK?

That's an interesting question - when I was learning to ride (about 25 years ago) I was taught by a woman who had been an international showjumper and she actutally devoted quite some time to teaching us how to fall... I don't know if anybody does this anymore!
I don't remember much about it, but I do know I'm not that scared of falling off - there was a lot about relaxing as soon as you knew you were falling, because falling while tense would do more damage. I wonder is this true? Everything else Iris taught me has been superseded by more modern riding styles, so maybe the falling thing would be considered old fashioned too.
Anyone have any similar experiences?

hey i fall off all the time, it's something i've gotten very good at and can do it whenever i want to hehe well nearly, most of the horses i ride are problem horses and when they get out of control i have to jump or stay on, i usually porposly jump cos then i can get proper control of the situation and get the horse cantering in the arena until he cums and lets me do watever i want on him, lol no it's not torture it's control and setting boundrys, but it's important that when you fall ufirstly have a helmet which u shuld probly check before you fall hehe"just wait here brono when i have my helmet you can continue your bucking rutine" hehe i wish, and dont put you arms or legs out to crash on cos they break quite easily and if they brake you cant ride home if your in the bush sumwhere, try to land on you back with your chin on your neck and then u'll only get winded and not neck break!! yay! ummm thats bout it, if all that fails ride a little pony so u just stand up and let it run from under you hehe
