Well, feeling relieved but a little sad....

...met Kelly at the yard this afternoon and she tried Cherry in the school.... lots of smiley faces and "oohs" and "aahs" - but in a positive way... I had cycled to the yard so we then went round the fields so she could "test" Cherry out in the open, with me cycling alongside. Needless to say my mare was an absolute star and Kelly was beaming from ear to ear! She mostly walked and trotted so Chez had an easy time of it, but I did hop on and give her a "gallop" demo.... she laughed that the ground shook!!! Charming :D Then I swiftly dismounted and handed her back over and we ambled home again.

I had warned her that my cob would feel a tad different to her slender TB and I noticed she had the "John Wayne" stance when she dismounted! But being just eighteen she soon shook off those protesting hips and was back to grinning again. I have to admit that having cycled round on all that grass, I'm feeling a tad saddle-sore myself.... just the wrong kind of saddle!!! :p

So I got me a sharer and Cherry's got herself another "mum" to fuss over her on a Wednesday, Friday and a Sunday.

Weird feelings inside me.....

I bet:(

As long as you have a good feeling about her then I'm sure Cherry will to.

Just think of the free time and the help in expenses.

I know how you feel. When I got a sharer for Ria even though it was my idea and really helped in terms of time and money, I still felt jealous thinking of someone else looking after my horse  It was like I'd given away a bit of my stake in her.

I promise the feelings go after a while :)

I'm so glad it went well Jane, I meant to text you this afternoon, but unfortunately it was so busy at work I forgot to eat let alone do anything else! Sorry:o

Kelly sounds like she will love Cherry to bits and will treat her just how she should be treated... and just think of all those warm Sunday morning lie-ins in the winter:D

I'm absolutely sure you are doing the right thing for both of you, although I bet it feels really odd right now... you'll get used to it in time:)

I promise the feelings go after a while :)
Thanks Est.... That's really great to hear (read?) and I am comforted knowing that Kelly's confidence is soooo going to be restored by her riding Cherry.

PLUS she's a lot lighter than me so Cherry will appreciate it too.... :p

ETA - thanks HC (cross-posted) AND Bobbin! I know it's the right way forward but I just need some time to adjust....

I know that I would have weird feelings too....but you've done the best thing possible for Cherry and yourself. And from the grins of your new sharer, for her as well. :)

That weird feeling DOES go away after awhile and is replaced by the wonderful feeling that somebody else very special loves your horse. Frees up some of your cash and some of your time. Congrats on finding somebody special.

Just make sure you touch base over coffee or at the pub Jane asap if you feel a 'prickly' feeling coming on.

Due to a third party it was me, the sharer, who was going to run a mile, and May's mum was feeling other vibes - hard to explain over the net but I took her to the pub with OH, put cards on the table, my worries over comments etc and things were much better. We've had to have a couple of 'chats' since.

But of course you were a sharer before so you know all this.

Sorry about your 'funny feeling' - I hope it will pass:o

xx

Glad it went well, I was wondering how it was going yesterday. Once you've settled down I'm sure it will be great.

Glad to hear you're sorted - Kelly sounds nice :) It does get easier after a while, too...

Just to say, now how you are feeling. I took on a sharer to lesson the work load and have to say it is the best thing I could have done. Zoe is an absolute little star. she is a great rider and loves my 3 girls to bits and they love her to. So happy allround!

Oh brave you, Domane! But really well done for finding a sharer who's (nearly?) as delighted as you are with Cherry; hope you begin to feel less sad soon:)
