Just in case anyone old wants to know about Rosie 2 and how she is getting on......dont worry if you dont, it goes on a bit, it would boar me to be honest....

I have had her for 3 weeks now, shes lovely, likes a polo and loves affection.
for the first week she was newly shod and put into a field to play with all the other mares, did she ever get some scrapes and scratches, she resembles a zebra now. she also lost a shoe.

The second week we found Rosie was petrified of anything, i really do mean anything, chairs, wheely bins, bits of rubber matting, flowers, tissues, shadows, puddles, drains, bushes, the sound of running water, gates, fields you name it Rosie had an issue with it. Still we put up with the mini rears and cat jumps sideways, it make you a better rider apparently, and continued with some basic schooling and a few jumps. max crash one morning on the jumps which has put us back a bit , but we will get there.

this week something has happened.........were ok with wheelies, puddles, flowers, gates and fields, hang on, whos been riding Rosie when i havent been looking??????
This morning we managed to go thru a stream, we followed another horse, but it was the first time we had ever been within 10 feet......we saw a drain this morning, we liked it.........its not right, my flighty skittish little chicken is getting braver. we also gallopd like the wind today, like she was born to do it, well actually i suppose she was. she cantered, then whoooooosh, it was like driving a Nissan 350z after driving a Micra for years.
we still have a few jumping issues, but with the help of my personal NR jump coach we are getting better.
Sorry if this is boring but i am overcome with fatherly pride for my horsey today.
Im also sorry to Fits and Rusty as this thread is going to be hard for you to make it rude.....:D

My goodness! What must you think of me at all!!!

Anyway, it sounds like she was settling in and being a prat to test you. She sounds great.
I hope the 'legal issue' you mentioned this morning is nothing too serious (dont know if it is to do with Rosie 2).

Well done - I think it just takes a while for them to have confidence in you and get used to their new surroundings. I'm sure that Rosie 2 will continue to go from strength to strength.

*puts on most prim and proper voice* Well I must admit I am most shocked and offended by your comments... I've been out all day and come back to see you are trying to get us banned! Who is it that starts all these threads, eh breeches? ;)

Anyway it's great that Rosie is settling in so well, and I love the gallop description - wow, sounds amazing.

Would like to say that despite her knocks in the field during the first week, I think she is settling in mighty fine, matey :) She is looking fab and is always ready for a scritch of her forelock when I am within reach in the field. She will always amble over to say Hi and drop her head down to me, so you have managed to find yet another who has a special place in my heart. It's still such early days, it's wonderful to hear that she is settled this week. Might not last but now you know that she CAN be settled it will help you if she tests you again periodically in the weeks to come. So she's fast becoming another "daddy's girl" is she??? :)

On reflection I am glad it's working out as I know wholeheartedly that you would blame me for being so emotional and "unprofessional" the day we viewed her by falling instantly in love... but me-knows I wasn't the only one heehee :D

Good lord you two, pack it in will you, or you'll both be banned;)

Glad to hear Rosie has begun to settle Breeches, long may it continue, though of course she will 'test the water' again at some point, usually about the two months stage in my experience;)

Looking forward to meeting her in the not too distant future... and you of course;) Unfortunately, the dates mentioned by our mutual friend so far are now obsolete due to the NHS wanting to butcher my arm on the 10th, but I will get there eventually;)
