ME!!!!

Had my lesson this morning, it went really well until the end  Did a lot of transition work and after my instructor said to walk Monnie around to cool off (32ºC, I think it was me that needed to cool). Well, we were just calmly walking on long rein stretching well, when the next thing I knew, Monnie spooked and I was sitting in the sand

After checking I was OK, my "friends" burst into hysterical laughter (who needs enemies when you have friends like that????)

Friends, eh? They have the strangest sense of humour :D

In a year and a half, I have fallen off Shannon once. I have survived bucks, all four feet off the ground spooks, being tanked off with, unexpected motorbike turns - all the usual.

Except for one day when I was mounting (from a mounting block), misjudged what I was doing, and fell right off the other side. Shannon stood and looked down at me with an absolutely disdainful expression. How is it possible to fall off a stationary horse?

Unfortunately no photos.

Bum and back are OK, plenty of padding on backside ;) Pride is a little dented though.

"What the hell are you doing down there???"

Most of the time it's easy to believe you're smarter than your horse, except when they look at you like that :D

Ha ha, I have fallen off Shannon standing still as well - trying to do a gate, and I toppled off! She is the best disdanful epression horse in the world!

trying to dismount, and end up getting my leg caught and tangled in the stirrup leathers, and end up hanging upside down from Max's side while my trainer is hysterically trying to undue the leathers, and Max is looking at me with a look of disgust!

... thank goodness he's not the type to bomb off, i'd a been n deep trouble!

Oh dear, with my cob Apache. I was mooching home after a hack and walking down a grassy hill, not concentrating, when he tripped... slightly:( I went over his shoulder and landed none too gently in front of him. I rolled into a ball thinking "Oh god, he's going to land on me" Nothing! So I looked up to see him stopped dead right behind me, looking at me with a "what are you doing down there?" look on his face. :o Luckily noone saw...:o

oh dear hope everyone ok ( chuckle chuckl snortle!!)

I think my funniest fall was when I was one one of my old horses Taz... hw stumbled in trot in the sand school and appantley I somersaulted over his head and landed on my feet!! I just rememeber standing in front of him and I kinda went..DAA DARRR !!!

Most embarssing ' dismount' was when a friend and me went riding at rockies ranch, I dismounted and managed to get my top caught on the horn on the western saddle.. as I was slithering of.. my top wriggled of !!! how shamefull lol :o

Those are great falls!! Funny just imagining them, let alone seeing them. Isn't it funny when we sometimes laugh when people we know fall off.

I fell on my bum dismounting one day - my legs just gave way as I landed. :D

Erm showing the kids at the riding school how to mount by jumping,(practising for gymkhana games I hasten to add) I jumped on and promptly fell off the other side! YO kept very straight face and said in best schoolmarm voice 'can anyone tell me the mistake Chris just made?' to which one little smart alec replied 'getting out of bed and tryingthat' the child was later never seen again, but a large lump of earth was reported to have been seen in the top paddock!

Ok, I will now admit to one of the most embarrassing moments of my life. I was at a short break at the Equestrian Hotel in Wrexham (sadly no longer with us) and was mounting from the block - a crate with a board screwed to the top. I hadnt realised that the board was wider than the crate.....

I stood on the end and fell off the mounting block, ending in a crumpled heap at my horses feet. The disdainful look I received from the poor horse has never been bettered...

I still go hot and cold over that one and it was 4 years ago!!
