..was this morning! Got a bit held up hacking to it due to orange walk! It certainly woke Oscar up (albeit momentarily). He did a lovely police horse impression, doing big floaty trot towards them, until we got chased down a side street by a real policeman....

Once we got there, Oscar fell back to sleep. We did a bit of 20m circle work, including spirals in, the leg yeild out. Then we did some work on my legs no stirrups again this time with scarey tractor in other end of school:eek:

He was a star and did his 'I AM ASLEEP' trot very slowly round in circles. It was definately comfier than last week, though as I pointed out to RI more due to permanant nerve damage than aquired skill. I do find my legs gradualy extending though (goodness soon I will be 5'5''!)

Then RI took pity on me, and Oscar's back, and we did some jumping - just one jump in middle of school, but put it up and up until he actually had to round over it! Was very pleased....

Tomorrow afternoon I hope to go to my first actual competing show! it is a teeny frriendly one, and I will enter the nursery novice which at 65cm, Oscar will possibly trot over without jumping, or alternatively ignore and demolish! If it goes OK, I can progressively enter bigger classes throughout the afternoon, but the main aim is to get him to see jumps in a new environmnet, as he is scared of them everywhere else aapart from RI's school!

Will let you know how we get on, and should be able to get some pics, as OH is towing me there!

Oh, also bought lots of stuff from a friend who's share horse was sold last year - got 2 rugs, body protector, numnah, spurs, tailguard, all for £74. She is also going to ride oscar a couple of times a week during the day to help me get him fit, including during the winter when I can only ride at weekends, which should be a great help. I am determined to show RI, who today said 'well he is hardly the picture of athleticism is he,...grrrrr...

Oh I forgot you had Orange marches in Scotland too:rolleyes:

Well done - sounds like things are coming along really well.

Fingers crossed for you today - looking forward to hearing how it goes.

Sounds like a good lesson (well, a good lesson in how to deal with loud drums and tin whistles anyway).

I gave you a phone yesterday, but then lost phone in the field. Shannon or Seamus may have eaten it, so if you ring me, I expect one or both will gallop around the field ringing and vibrating. Gave it a phone this am but it goes straight to answerphone so either it is in damp long grass or the digestive juices have done for it.

I forgot you were going to show today - hope it goes well! I am going off to Braehead to buy a new phone :-) Maybe speak to you later - you can always give Donal's phone a try if you feel like a glass of beer or wine post-show!

Okay - I have to know: what's an orange walk? Also, a question I've been pondering for a long time, is a numnah a saddle pad?

Hope the show went well - can't wait to hear!

Oh oh oh - I think I can answer this one :) - it's a shaped saddle pad - am I right? Have I progressed past the RustyMary who started out on here knowing nothing about horses?

A numnah is indeed a saddle shaped pad. On orange walks, I'm afraid I cant be so specific - something sectarian, protestant, to do with very ancient battles I think but generally more about lots of neds getting drunk at 9am! Sorry, that the best I can do?!
