Hi everyone, I've just got home from the stables.
I hadn't ridden my nutty TB mare Molly for a week and a half, for reasons I just cannot seem to remember.
Anyway I went to catch in the big paddock where the herd was grazing, but as I neared her she attempted to nick off. So I jumped forward and put my arms around her neck:D and she changed her mind. Though at the time I thought she was going to run and drag me!
Anyway as I lead her in, she danced about like a race-horse (well I guess thats okay coz she used to be one!) and kept running in circles around she as I were lunging her.
Eventually we reached the stable yard, and ouch! My arm sure was buggered!
I had my friends Sharna and Emma to help me tack up, which was a great relief. I put Molly's bridle on basically with out a fuss (yay!) by myself coz she goes nuts when someone else tries to help. But saddling, ugh, Sharna held her and managed to avoid being bitten while i did the girth up slowly.
I decided to ride in a really small area, because Molly's mood indicated she was going to be a pain in the ***, and don't you worry, she didn't let me down.
With Sharna and Emma's help I finally managed to get into the saddle (not before Molly had had a complete hissy fit though!)
After a bit of schooling in the small area Molly was pretty much cool as a cucumber, so I thought taking her out in a bigger riding area would be okay. And it was until the two snobs that we hate started racing in the next field. It set Molly off completely, I asked her to move forward and she reared! :( She did it two other times in the next two minutes that followed!
What upset me most is that she has never reared properly before, half rears-yes.
So anyway I took her back to the small area and we continued to basic school.
Ps I hate those snobs, I think they galloped just because they know what Molly is like and wanted to upset her. They are like that:(
