Hi all, yesterday being so hot, I waited until late before taking my boy out for a gentle stroll round the fields and woods behind the stables, and I was suddenly struck with the realisation of how privileged I, and we, all are.
Just to be able to ride a lovely horse round beautiful countryside on a perfect English summer evening - it really can't get any better than that, can it?

Late evening when it's cool or first light in the morning.... these are the BEST times....
Before the traffic starts, when you can hear the birds, see the rabbits and smell the new day or when everyone is home from their daily toil, watching EastEnders or chucking a banger on the barbie.... the roads are quieter, the heat of the day has passed...
I complain that I have no money... my clothes are from cheap shops... I have to scrimp and save for the food shop and I've just started sharing but I DO have a horse which is more than some people have.
I too feel privileged.... and enriched... :D

I am in total agreement with you.
Sunday morning I was up at 5am  , out of the gate at 6am, sat on top of a hill enjoying the view and breakfast at 7am, it was truly magical and my boy new it too.

Yes I do feel very priveleged, because it's true- I AM. The horsey is the icing on a rich cake; got lovely OH, lovely kids and doggies, my artwork that I love doing, and now here am I, a bit crinkly, but the proud owner of a pretty mare who's beginning to love me back. Thank-you God!
We won't mention the bad bits. But they melt away when the view from horseback looks so good, eh?:)

I totally agree with you. We truly must thank our blessings at time.
But remember this isn't luck - we worked hard for this lads and lasses, we chose our boy/girl ourselves and worked at the relationship and we are reaping our deserved rewards.
Lets enjoy the highs of the rollercoaster ride:)

Am in agreement. when I see my friends worrying about where to go on their holidays, what new car to buy and all the other stuff they think is important, and they look pityingly at me and say 'are you not going away this year?' I think I am the lucky one, I have the horse (well its daughters) but I have others I can play with, a farm to roam round, wildlife that they will never appreciate, and a lovely lot of new friends on NR. Then I KNOW I'm the one who is lucky not them!

Doesn't get much better does it?:D I felt like that last Thursday on my day off, took Storm hacking with OH and his horse - it was perfect and one of (at the risk of sounding cheesy:o ) lifes "golden moments" - kept me going for days afterwards........:)

I would so much rather have what I do, than have a nice car / clothes / holidays etc....After all why drive around in a nice car when you could ride around on a beautiful horse, and why go on exotic holidays in nice clothes when you would just miss your horse and stinky johds!

I live in wonderful countryside with the most beautiful horse all to myself. What more could I possibly want? A square meal occasionally!:D

Yes Little Dolphins, I remember very clearly your problems - you were very brave and determined - I'm so pleased that it's all coming together for you.
And these are the moments to remember when winter returns and it's all a drudgery, because as we now know the best is utter magic!

I agree. I have to pinch myself daily. Its all good. Wonderful children. great horses. My own farm. Not a bad job..the regular wage bit is good. I cannot afford to ever go on holidays, but the way I see it I am on permanent holidays oldbushy

Thanks for the mention, SF! Sweet of you to remember my earlier troubles with Harley.
I was also thinking of difficulties and sadnesses with life in general, which can be put aside when you are so 'in the moment' of being on a horse. I think that is the key thing for me, how I gain perspective after spending time in the Now- mucking out, grooming- even being scared witless!
And I do think how many folk haven't the wherewithall to eat or house themselves, and here am I with a horse. Yes, I have worked and saved and tried hard, but still, I am priveleged. ;)

Hiya
I've got to agree, I've had my boy nearly 8 months now and I'm enjoying him so much. We have had our ups and downs but these last few of weeks have been getting better and better.

Absolutely agree , well said , and important to remember too. I'm new to the horse owner's club , and am only just beginning to believe it , but have already had a few golden moments :D :D
