DDJ was terrified of drummer, not having cantered him yet since i brought him in january, the plan was hopefully for her to come on to him next year and i'd upgrade, but she has showed no signs of this at all

until last saturday.........

now she is cantering round to the extend of joy riding  :) and jumping him and bonding with him as well on the ground, ive noticed a lot of pats and 'oh you are such a good boy' going round

this is great, apart from she got me up at 5.45 to ride this morning  and i may have to find £5000 earlier than expected and upgrade

she is even talking that she may hack out with me on him if i get another one. i sort of feel as though i am loosing him now as i am all or nothing (luckily this attitude pushes my riding to my limit) and of course it means we will be keeping him fingers crossed but going on the all or nothing mentality i loosing the feeling that i have something to get my teeth stuck into  :)

it is lovely to see DDJ showing off though :)

That's great. You're not really losing him though, as he's still part of the family and you'll have a friend for him, hopefully. Also, hacking out together sounds fun!

She woke you up at 5.45am this morning.

Well if I know titch you'd better just say bye to Drummer now:D

It'll be a while untill she's ready to take him on properly and after everything that happened with Ash she must be properly confident this time.
It's still early days for them both, so from your point of view thats a good thing as you get to keep Drummer that little bit longer and theres no pressure on her to progress faster than she wants.

Awww...well its good to see he's going to get plenty of exercise, and both of you can enjoy him.

If you did in the near future want a horse, you could always get one on loan and then you wouldn't have to pay the '£5000' out. Then you could see whether having two horses is worthwhile :)

Good luck with nabbing rides before DDJ grabs him!

I've had a similar situation with my daughter and it's brought out mixed feelings in me - I like to see her riding my mare, doing well, and feeling confident, but, selfishly I feel like saying, "Hey, that's MY horse - I had to wait 43 years for her and I want her to myself!".

I have many friends, though, who are jealous that we have a common interest we can share so I try to be grateful for that and embrace it.

No way I can afford a second horse, though!

Then you could see whether having two horses is worthwhile - we have had two horses before, 'just' about affordable  amy will have to work saturdays :D

i really dont think someone is going to lend me their well schooled, perfect placid 5ft show jumper do you, i gonna be lucky to get that for 5000 anyway maybe more like 6 or 7  :)
