I like weetabix me, on saturday night i had to fend for myself as Mrs Breeches was away,at a hen party, so cooked my own tea........4 x weetabix and a packet of crisps. whilst slaving away in the kitchen, i thought, why not clean that pooey turnout rug, the washing machine shouldt be too tricky to use........Mrs Breeches does ok with it.........

Why oh Why didnt anybody think of telling me that you shouldt clean turnouts in domestic washing mashines.......i know it seemed quite full, and the clips were chinking about on the glass window bit, but i didnt realise that it would blow up whilst in spin mode................:(

Ladies i hold you all personally responsible, you should have informed me of this a long time ago.........

i had to go out on sunday and find the very same washing machine, fit it and dispose of the old one before Mrs B returned, i was so lucky, they had one in stock...........saved:eek:

Ah well, us ladies always said dont do it, but hey, men dont pay attention to anything that involves 'cleaning' do they? :p

At least it wasnt the rug that got wrecked, although im sure your pockets will be quite empty now you've had to buy a new machine. Oh dear...lets hope Mrs Breeches doesnt notice the 'spanking new' difference.

 I thought men read instructions ?

so you'd have found the instructions, realised there was a maximum weight, weighed the rug - and realised it was a BAD idea ....

whereas I know of an OH (not mine) who simply objects to having his underwear covered in horse hair

Even if we take our rugs to be cleaned - we hose them off first.

OMG! Just got home and finally logged onto the boards (had withdrawal symptoms....) Is this TRUE??? How could you be so....

...well, for goodness sake.... DON'T put rugs in the domestic washing machine.... it's probably best that it broke as Mrs B would have been pulling out horse-hair covered undies for weeks!!!! You would have been soooooo for it....

Can't you chuck em in the hot tub and turn the jets on full????

OR Dom has a jet washer at work you can use????

LOL - I was staying in a hotel once (in Finland) where the bath had jets. I switched them on and ended up with a bath FULL of froth (and very little water !) I couldn't get rid of the stuff

I now have this image of breeches hot tub with poo-ey, hairey froth all over everywhere, just as Mrs B arrives home:cool:

whereas I know of an OH (not mine) who simply objects to having his underwear covered in horse hair

So what I do (yes it is my OH) is wash them when he is not around:D :D

Then run the machine on cold cycle and swab out the inside. I have to add it is an American style top loader - and is big enough for two fleece rugs and a sweat rug. It stiil doesn't do turnout rugs very well as the waterproof layer stops them getting clean...

I use the farm pressure washer for them .... or the old bath in the yard and jump in with my wellies on - want to join me cvb???????

Thank you for asking domane, I'll try and keep it short:

'Who ate all the pies' Mimi broke into feed shed. YO left angry message saying might have to call vet as don't know how much she's eaten.
Got there and realised wasn't soo bad, she'd made a mess but only (?) actually eaten about 15 apples and a couple of scoops of nuts (but had made a huge mess, knocking over chaff and spilling supplements:eek: )
She was grazing in field so YO's husband suggested I lunge her for about 20 minutes.

Mimi doesn't normally 'do' lunging, she'll not walk round and keep putting her head down to eat because I have to do it on grass.

However last night she was going really nicely, really striding out. Was just about to stop when I thought I'd just have a go and see if I could get her to canter one circle. Bad idea - she did a couple of strides then turned into a bucking bronco, turned and galloped off, wrenching the lunge line out of my hands.

Heard a 'crack' and hey presto my finger was turned 90 degrees to the left.

Caught my moose who luckily hadn't managed to break any of her legs on the trailing lunge line, bid her farewell and drove to my local hospital.

Now, question here, why do people have no idea what lunging is - the doctor's insist on asking how you injured yourself and you try to explain but they just don't get do they?

Anyway my ring finger is broken and had rotated, so I had to have it turned back OUCH and am now sitting here with a cast on up to my elbow waiting for the plastic surgery department  to phone me to ask me to come in and look at it. I begged them last night just to strap it but they insisted on putting a whole cast on (seems a bit OTT) and now I can't drive or ride:mad:

What's really odd is it's almost a year to the day that I broke the same finger but different hand doing the same sort of thing - I should stay away from horses and lead ropes/lunge lines in the month of July methinks!

How's yours by the way have you fully recovered?

Soz to hijack your thread breeches! Did the same thing as you once with bathroom carpet = new washing machine.

The highlight of my 4 hour stay at the hospital was the plastic surgeon doctor called Rory, he made George Clooney look like a troll!!

This has taken a good 40 minutes to type out so I hope I get some sympathy LOL :p :p :p

haha you're havin a larf aren't you:D :D I've never ever known a man that would admit to needing to read instructions!!! they're far to clever for that:eek:

so why is it that whenever I need advice on sorting something out, whether from father or OH, they chorus "have you read the instructions ?!" and both of them pretty much ALWAYS do, as their first step. And they will inventory the contents to check its all there, lay it out in order, and other annoyingly logical things like that

I guess breeches theory was closer to what I have observed

instructions are to be glanced at, then ignored

:D
