Monty Roberts extols the virtues of Monty Roberts
This book would be much more believable if it had been written by
someone else--or if Mr. Roberts had not tried so deperately to convince
readers that he is truly a "horse whisperer"--or, better yet as he would
have us to believe--one who listens to horses. I'm unconvinced that much
of this is true.

What planet is this guy from????? lol - this came from a review of Roberts book - 'The Horse Whisperer' and kinda made me laugh... just made me wonder if he was actually a horsey person  Just wondering what you guys actually thought of Monty and 'join up'

Even more worrying is a book claiming that baically all he has taught is a pack of lies?

That is a very disturbing website!!!

I wholeheartly believe that everything that Monty has done for horses has been, although many may argue most of it was just common sense.

What do other people think?

Look at www.montyroberts.com or www.intelligenthorsemanship.co.uk, to find out all about Monty Roberts.

Monty Roberts has written books about his life with horses and horse whispering.

The main thing i found concerning was that someone has written a book, supposedly exposing the true Monty and that his book is basically a pack of lies... you should check the website out - it could always be a hoax i s'pose

yeah i have Dancing with Horses on video- it is absolutley fascinating to watch and i get sooo envious- however, i can't evaluate how effective his methods are, as as yet i have no horse to practice upon:0(

Monty Roberts is a very good self publicist, he sells himself, and he sells himself hard.

When I first heard of him I thought here we go again, another Barbara Woodhouse (who did teach a load of rubbish!!) But I ended up, by accident watching him, and what he siad made sense.

I have to admit at having the same views when FIRST introduced to Heather's methods. But the proof of the pudding...... as they say.

Monty's ways do work, Heather's ways work, anyone can do them, there is no secret. He doesn't claim psychic powers, it's plain common sense.

Parelli systems work,

Read them all, take the best from all the methods which you find work, if they don't work for you then try something else.

I never use a choke chain for a dog or a horse, both will fight pain hard.

Some horses can be a real problem, but they are not really for the novice or hobby rider to deal with, if a horse is that dangerous or nervy it needs professional re-training. The profs. are prepared for freaky behaviour and can maybe stand a dominant horse down.

Read them all, go with what you feel is right for you and your horse, use bits and bobs from everywhere. But it must be comfortable for horse and rider.

thats true Wally - i just can't see why people are accusing him of beong a liar, if his method works so well for so many horses grrrrr

I read the website ting about the "lies" that Monty Roberts told, and as I was reading it I was thinking does it really matter what he says. His teachings work, maybe not with all horses but but most. I would have thought there is no "natural horsemanship" that all horses respond to. I just think tht this person/ people are jealous of what Monty has done.
No offence to anyone. That is just my view.

Hi Carolyn R, I have been reading this book, its a good read and also best seller world wide.
No one could have predicted how this book would have been accepted, and the numbers sold.
A man who wanted to change the way horses are treated and trained, who was sickened by what he had seen.
Sadly there are people who conspire against him,I suspect probably because of his world wide sucsess, its called jealousy.

A dedication from his book,Quote:
I could think of no other choice than to dedicate this book to Equus:The Flight Animal. It is my opinion that we owe this species an opology for causing it to endure our lack of understanding for thousands of years,Equus has been my teacher, my friend, and my provider.
There is lots of praise for the people who helped and taught him,
and also praise for his students.Kelly Marks and Richard Maxwell are two.

I have a picture from a time long forgoten, working horses sirca 1920,where would we all be with out horses.Remember Monty grew up in an environment where horses where for work and racing.

The photo is of heaven knows how many horse, and the machine they are pulling is a combine harvester,as you can see there are four teams of horse.
