Isn't it great when you cross a barrier with your horses, and I have found it to be even more rewarding with my 2yr old. He is naturally very bold and easy going which makes the little things even more special.
Today I took him into our small paddock to have a play with each other, just character building stuff really. On the way out he noticed on top of a water butt my OH had put a watering can and on top of that a plant pot, (dont ask me why he did that ????)
Cracker stopped with a start and was truly anxious, I talked to him quietly and stroked him but he was still not at ease with the monster, we were about 6 ft away and he had no choice to go forward to get back to the stable, but he wouldn't budge. I put the rope around his neck and left him standing alone, I walked to the monster and called him on towards me he whinnied, dropped his head and in total trust came to me, smelled the monster, and everything was ok because he was with his mum aahhhh

A true bond between horse and owner is a truely wonderful thing.

Leadership, you didn't force him, you led by example, it didn't kill either of you, you are worthy of trust next time a scary monster jumps out.

I always tell mine, I am the scariest thing they are ever likely to meet, so GET A RUDDY GRIP! :D :D :D
