Hi
Are you sure you are both ready for this show?? I wouldnt take my horse to a show until he was going perfectly at home. A show can be an exciting time for a horse so until he is going well at home I am not sure I would take him.
Sorry to rain on your parade but its just my opinion :)

if he's like that at home where he is comfortable and knows his surroundings, he'll be worse at the show. Get his back, teeth, and tack, checked. Usually bucking after a jump means the saddle isn't fitting quite right and might be making him sore.

Agree with attillathefun to be fair. I think if that was my horse and i was really worried about going because of bad behaviour i'd try and work on the problems at home and not petrify myself at a show. My mare's just spooky and i get stressed enough with that let alone cantering off and bucking. I know it will feel like you're missing out a little but if you work on it at home in lessons then a time will come when he's more grown up to go to a show.

he only does the bucking and running away in new places, he's funny and spooky like that. now that i've ridden him at the showground i'm hoping he's not going to be like that.

Have you already entered? If not, see how he's going on the day, as this will take the pressure off you to perform.
I think it might be related to your nerves as much as anything, take some rescue remedy and remember to breathe. If you relax things will be much easier :)

Aw dont worry about it-go and enjoy and try to think of it as a lesson, thats what I do at shows:)

I have this problem about Show jumping nerves. Have a read on Show Jumping forum and maybe post. There is lots of advise on there. Also I have recently popped a post on Mature thread about jumping and being nervous. "BE MY BuddDrummer and Drummer has been a super confidence booster and supporter.
