yazandsoph - it's about £1300 - £1400
MRCDT - the one that fits your horse ;) Whereabouts are you? Someone might be able to recommend a saddle fitter that works near you :)
Please don't try and buy a saddle off the peg without putting it near your horse first. If the saddle doesn't fit (and most of them won't, at least at first) you can do permanent damage to your horse's back .

unfortunately, with saddles as with alot of things in life, just because you spend mega-bucks it does not guarentee that it is the best.
some of the worst saddles i have seen, and im now talking of the standard of workmanship not the fitting, that is something seperate, have been the most expensive ones:(
i would advise you check out as many different makes as you can, try them on your horse, and if your not happy about anything to do with the saddle and during the fitting etc' SAy something;) ;) Go with your gut feeling;)
i see so many people who have bought saddles that don't fit their horses, and at the time of fitting have had serious doubts about the saddle or fitting etc' but have trusted the "professional" and gone ahead and bought a saddle which has B------d their horse:eek:
good luck, but remember it's whats comfy for your horse first and foremost, i smile to myself everytime i here a rider/owner say oh! i really love my saddle it is so comfy to ride in!!! and then follow up with and i think my horse is happy as well:rolleyes:

well... it's easy enough for you europeans to say ... but where on earth would you find a saddle fitter out here in wannabee cowboy country ? Could try the nearest tack shop, I suppose ... well, there is an english saddle shop in the next city ... the best they can do is sell you the saddle, and you can try it on the horse and if it doesn't fit, you can change it for another :( Any sensible person would suggest trailering over to the shop and trying a few. LMAO. No, I'm definitely not unloading either of the 4 yr olds in that particular parking lot by the interstate.
Round here, you either run into a used saddle by chance that happens to fit, or you buy off the internet and then resell it :( Not often, but just occasionally, I miss Britain.

fitting the saddle to the horse isn't in my opinion a 'european' thing, its rarely done here in belgium. very much a british thing. many people with more than one horse will use the saddle on them all over here too.
