I started riding a few months ago and enjoy it SO much! Livi in NYC but commute to Connecticut 2xa week Am looking for opportunities to help take care of horses a few hours a week, + get more experience and meet other riders! Am already taking lessons with an insructor 1-2 times per week but WISH I could ride more than that! Do barns etc. ever offer riding/lessons in exchange for work at the barn?

Hi,
I have the same problem! I live in NYC and I commute to Long Island once a week for my lesson but I feel its not enough! I do hear that in some barns (especially schools)they hire people as barn help and you could get reduced or free lessons!
I can't help you with exact locations but do look into local schools and maybe even the barn you're riding in now.
Good Luck!

in limine,
GOOD barn/yard/stable lol is difficult to find, so the answer is mostly yes!!! There are a lot of folks willing to muck for a week or two...then they quit.
