Oh it was such fun in my lesson today. RI let me jump no stirrups in a little set of three. Well i was only brutal and had no skill at it, by the third jump i was like a bag of floppy spuds, but it was great fun!

How do you guys find it/do it? I was a bit lost with the objectives of it  , then i remembered seeing someone do it once with no and folded perfectly. Anyway not that i'm even TRYING for that but would love to hear some pointers on jumping no stirrups. Its so different cos you've no ability to raise your bum up! :)

I've only done it a few times....very scary as I rely on my stirrups far to much.

Dont you get pushed/bumped out of the saddle?? I am afraid I havent been brave enough to try this yet. I have jupmed with no reins. Fantastic feeling. LIke a bird in the sky. :)

Yes! :p

Does anyone have pics of jumping no stirrups, or bareback? Would be interesting to see how to fold for it.

I was told to fold and keep my back really straight, and keep my chin UP. Like I said, i was a sack of potatoes! :D

I have jumped a jumping lane witha combination of 4 jumps,
Starting normal,
Then no stirups
then no reins

and eventually worked up to no saddle and no reins!

It was great fun!!:D

I love jumping stirupless but more so Bare back, it's so fun cos you jus think bout your heels, eyes and hands and it dosn't matter where your ass is hehe it's so smooth an i recon it makes you feel more confident when riding with stirups cos you know you can do it without a saddle! i'll get sum pics of me jumping bb next time too.:D

It makes jumping more interesting, definately!!! I've jumped bareback, no reins with my eyes shut, clapping my hands 3 times above my head at the same time once. Twas only a tiny jump though.

I dont think I have the bottle to try with no stirrups. What would i need to do to say on?? Should I try a little one first and just trot over it?? OMG where has my confidence gone? It isnt as though I havent had a few nasty falls lately and sat up laughing at them.

Bareback riding really helps with every aspect of your riding, especially if you rely on your stirrups!

My first fall last month was because I was bareback riding and then my second fall a fortnight later was because of jumping. So you can see why I am reluctant to jump with no stirrups cant you.

I jumped without stirrups yesterday, although unintentionally as I forgot to take them back after doing without stirrups work.

Bareback jumping is fun! You have to have just the right pony though, you slip off a fat one, and high withered ones are very uncomfortable!! Especially for blokes... Timmie is about right for jumping bareback, so I tend to do more on him than the others.

Ive done it! Not loving myself or being vein ect. but im quite good at it. Hehe. If my stirrups were taken away, i dont think id suffer too much. Zola isnt the bouncy type so i think that helps a LOT. Will try getting piccies soon!

I'd love to see some pics. :D

Basically i get the feeling that you just gotta follow the horses rythym, otherwise it's all bump-bumpy-bump...

So is it just a straight fold from the waist as the horse stretches?

I'm dying to try it again - hopefully this saturday.

How many peple have played pony/cushion polo? thats the best game for you balance and confidents cos your so focused on the dam cushion you foget entirly about your fear of the ground. I've been playing once with a few good friends and sumhow (i guess cos where so conmetitive) i landed behind my friend on her pony with my pony (who carries the cushion for me) ran away though the goals and left me on my friends pony cantering in the opposite direction, no one knows how it happend but it was loads of fun! with beginers it's a lot safer thiough hehe were just too full of ourselves to let anyone eles win!:D
