ive always been able to go into a fence of any height and not get nervous, untill my old pny fell over a jump with me and i blanked out the rest of the day. that was the last time i fell off, and since ive had my new horse i get nervous quite often when coming into a decent size jump.

i tend to try and mess too much to get a stride, and it putts my murphs off :(
i think im just scared of falling off again after about three years... but its putting me off jumoping bigger jumps at home (we have no problem at shows)

any help or advice to help me get more confident???

Oh yes, the best thing I ever did to help my nerves was to sing a nursery rhyme while jumping. It got me thinking about the words to the rhyme (especially because i could barely ever remember any words to any of the nursery rhymes!) instead of the jumps. Even better is if you can learn a long poem and then you have to cite it off to your instructor as you jump! My instructor tried to get me to learn a poem, but I only ever got as far as the first line..

It was the best thing I could ever do to just find ways to distract myself.
