I wouldnt have thought you would be too heavy, you may be a little big though, you never know though, take a photo of you riding him and see what you think, also you'll probably be able to tell if you too heavy.

i weigh 8st 4 though and i use to ride a 11hh lightweight shetland, also my aunties got a 11.2hh welsh A which use to be mine, which i still ride soemtimes. I'm 158cm, i look a bit big on them but they manage my weight easily.

It all depends on the horse really and how strong he is, i would jsut say ride him and see how you get on.

i don't know how tall that is but i am 5 ft 8 and 9 stone and a cobby type can carry me welsh ponies normally can but not sure about a lightweight!!! he will tell you if he struggles with your weight!!! but 8 stone isn't that heavy so i should think there would be no probs!! :)

i shouldnt worry about your weight or height. Try the pony out..and if you really dont feel happy then dont ride it but dont worry about it too much.

im 1m73 and i ride a 14.2h fat thing no probs most of my height is in my legs and id otn think i look dafte riding my fat haflinger...i also ride smaller icelandic horses too. - now i must admit i look daft on one of them but i dont care.
read the thread that mike attached...

I am 5ft 7 and I weigh just over 8 and a 1/2 stone, I used to think I was going to be too big for a 14.3hh, but I ride him, I am not sure if I look too bif on him but I wouldn't really care!:)

i weigh 9 stone and rode a 14.1 HH pony today, a light weight but he had absoutly no probs carrying me and even carted me, flat out gallop no stopping eeeekkkkk :o well did manage to stop but it was like a sliding halt at the end and then he jogged and tried to canter all the time!!!!!!!
