Hi,
i had a summer break of one month and when getting back on i felt i lost it again. Before the break i really felt my balance was back and my gallop was really really good, but now it became all bouncy again. I went out on a hack and i was kind of afraid in gallop because of bad balance. Did anyone experienced this as well? They say you never unlearn how to ride a horse but i feel i unlearn it so fast ...
I also followed a class with beginners (just a few strides of gallop) and i felt much more at ease 'cause i could focus more on my general attitude (sitting properly, heels down etc.). So now i don't know what to do, stick with my older class where i do learn a lot but always feel like i have to do a lot of effort to cling on, or go to the beginners with the risk of getting bored? i asked my RI for advice but she doesn't give me a clear answer. she put me in the group i'm in now though. there is no group in between. advice please? thanks

Can you stick with the beginners for a class or two until you're happy, and then move up to the higher class again?

:(
This sounds really annoying!

How long have you been riding for?
This is the same thing that happens to me when I ski and then take a long break from it. I usually go back to the lessons I learned before to review, and then I work my way up all over again (You don't want to be stuck in a class you don't feel safe it). I've been riding for a while, and I hope my experienced advice will help!
:)

hi,
sorry for the late reply. Have been riding since februari this year again, after a break of 15 years. Am slowly catching up again. Have been following the advice to follow some beginners classes again, but now it becomes a bit boring again. On the other hand, if you want to find action, confusion, frustration and adrenaline i recommend going to a beginners class. :D :D
I did learn a lot and i met some people who are slightly better than beginners too. We were talking about starting a new group (our RI's got just more hours to work in our school, so...). I also feel much more confident and relaxed and in place with these people, so am really looking forward to start our new little class. we are still in need of two extra people which makes us running around to ask all the relaxed but 'wanting to move forward' people if they want to join us (we agreed we don't want bitchyness in our class :-) ). Thanks for listening!
