This is a horse just moved out of my yard but knew him from a riding school a few years before so he has always been the same colour.

He has a kind of buckskin type colour to him but then this darker grey brown colour and blackish points, he also has white flecks throughout his coat and always has had them. He is believed to be an irish cob but sadly hes gone now so I cant get any more photos! + He has no white markings apart from possibly that little white patch on the front of his coronet area.

Looking at those you'd swear he was bay/buckskin greying out. But if he's never changed, he's either greying out incredibly slowly (not unheard of but not all that common) or he's carrying some kind of roan. It's really odd to see the dilute colour on his head if he's roan, but if he does have a dilute maybe that might explain it?

He could also be a roan variant; probably not likely to be sabino (with so little white markings) but maybe a form of varnish roan.

It would be really interesting to see pics of him in his youth! Very difficult to say, without knowing his parents' colours or what colour he started out. He's quite unusual!

He's a very similar base colour as the horse I was describing in this thread (http://www.newrider.com/forum/showthread.php?) except Jester has more mottled/dappled roan bits.

well when I first met him he must have been about 5, he know has to be nearing 10 and never changed, sadly can't get anymore pics as he was from the riding school and also now hes left our yard but I didn't speak to his owner that much anyway, it has puzzled me for years! The people at the riding school used to think he was ugly! When someone came to look at him they warned her before she went in the stable he was ugly! Just because hes not a bay TB!
