I have been cantering for a little over a month but every time I have to canter I get a not in my stomach. Can somebody please help me get over my fear of cantering.

Why are you scared??
Have you been told to do any breathing exercises.....that should help you to relax.
The easiest way to do it is to talk or sing, that will automatically keep you breathing.
When I get nervous I sing 'she'll be coming round the mountain when she comes' Bryony listens to me and is no doubt pulling faces at my singing!!

I just read your other posts and if you are jumping 4 foot and doing cross country then I would say you are brave!

Bobbin says it all really but if you can figure out why you are scared, you'll be one step closer to not being scared.
When you're cantering count the beats of your horse's legs beneath you...whilst you are saying 1,2,3 you will be breathing and keeping in rhythm with the horse that you're riding :)

Haaaaannnnng on, sorry if this sounds rude but you have only been cantering for a month but have jumped 4ft courses and done xc, wow thats impressive, if you are at that level already I should think that you should be able to overcome your 'knot' in your stomach:)

I agree with bobbin if you are that good tell us where u go for lessons. Surely if u can do all that jumping u don't even think bout the canter as i just comes naturally when your jumping

I know what you guys are saying. But, Im saying like just doing flat work. When Im jumping I forget im cantering and stuff. But when Im just working on the ground its different and I dont know why.
