Saturdays lesson went well. It was a competition week so more about that towards the end of this post!

I was on Daisy (http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f192/raingodz/cowley/daisy2.jpg) this week, I rode her out on a hack on Tuesday too.

The lesson started with some basic warm ups halt-walk-trot transitions, 20m circles and I snuck in som leg yealds too. After a quick warm up canter we then crossed our stirups and did some trotting and then canter work. I really feel that I have found my confidance a bit more in cantering with out stirrups. This was the third time I have done it in the last month or so. I did have a bit of a moment on the first canter though, when I returned to trot it was very bouncy and I actually held the pommel for a moment to re-stableize my self :o but on my next few goes there was no problem.

We then did turn on the fore hand, both left and right, Daisy can sometimes be a bit unwilling in this, but my second go (to the left) went quite well.

So on to the competition. This was the same as the competition we did at the begining of May. There were three jumps set up each with different points values, a cross pole worth 5, an 18" pole worth 10 and an 18" by 1ft spread worth 15 points. You have one minuit to get as main points as you can. In May when I did this (also on Daisy) I managed to get 105 points and came 3rd, this time I got 120 points and came second :D

After being a bit depressed for comming last in my last competition, this time I came second, just to prove that sometimes I can do it right :)

To cool down after the jumping we did more halt-walk-trot-walk-halt transition work.

The other big thing that happened on Saturday is that I had my very first Western lesson, but I think it deserves it's own thread (just havn't decided weather to put it in the startingout or the western forum... I post most of my stuff in starting out, so I'll probably put it there).

Thanks :) it was fun lesson :)

She is really good at jumping, she is quite forward going too, but she doesn't like sanding around and I sometimes have found it hard to control her when doing things like leg yealds and sholder in and turn on the fore hand.

Also hope the hack went well and well done on your 2nd!:D
It was a good hack, nice and relaxing :) (didn't get much chance to post about my lessons last week).

I hope your lessons are going well at the moment :)

Good good, glad it was!

Aww....! I adore jumping! I've ridden horses that dont like standing around much... I found at first it was scary... because its near enough no brakes.. Okay *sighs* Only a little like no brakes.;) Not to bad when you get used to it though.:)

I like hacking, though at the same time I find it kind of scary, how about yourself?

Thank you! My lessons are fine at the moment, quite a few new horses/ponies at the RS so it feels a little bit different and nerve racking at the moment. :o But its bound to be helping with my confidence... in some way. LOL

I really like it, when I was a teenager (after my parents stopped letting me have lessons) I used to borrow peoples horse and go out hacking by my self, my favorite was a pony called Tinkerbell - sadly I have no photos of her :(

It will help your conifidence alot I think. And you will probably find some new favorites too :)
