She then seemed to go almost orange lol and now that is comming out her coat is very dark with white hairs through it. I thought she was going blue roan but after reading some post I wonder if shes going grey? I will get some more recent pics ASAP.

I dont think she would go either because neither of her parents are she can only go grey if one of her parents is grey. She might shed out to be like her dad tho I'm not sure Chev will know!

Is her dad deffo a dun or is he greying out? Little filly looks like she might be greying as she has grey 'spectacles' and a lot of white through her coat, the eyes are a bit of a give away though.

She's definitely not going roan, foals are roan from birth + she has white hairs on her face, roans don't.

Looks like she's going grey, are you 100% sure about the dad? If so then he must be going grey!

I have had a look at a pic of dad again and it seems that he is def a dun. He has dark legs, a dorsal strip, 2 tone mane and tail and black tips to his ears. However he has a grey muzzle. Can duns go grey?
Could my filly be a dun??

Can duns go grey?

Any base color can go grey; grey is a different gene from the colors that determine what coat the horse is born with. But one parent (at least) MUST be grey for there to be a grey baby.

You may need to wait and see what her *third* coat looks like before being sure :)

She's not dun - dun foals are born dun, with obvious dilute colour and clear dun factor markings, of which she has none. So she won't be dun like dad.

Roans are not usually born roan at all; they usually show the first roan coat as they shed the foal coat. They don't roan our gradually though - and roan is not progressive. And most telling of all, they don't show roaning on the head, mane, tail or legs - so your filly is not roan either.

Dad looks like he could be greying out - it's not always easy to see on duns until the later stages.

Filly most certainly is greying out. There are a couple of indicators; first are her dark legs at birth. Dark bay foals (in fact just about any colour foals) have sort of fawn coloured legs which shed out to the adult coat colour (black in teh case of dark bays) as they lose the foal coat. Foals that also carry grey, though, are born with legs the colour of the adult coat - so black or near black in bays, chestnut in chestnuts, and so on. Second indicator is the grey spectacles around her eyes; often the first place to start greying is the area around the eye.

So she is definitely not dun (won't be dad's colour) and definitely not roan of any description (apart from anything else, neither of her parents are roan, and in order to be roan a foal must have at least one roan parent to pass the gene on). She's dark bay going grey. :)
