Hi
I am in the process of buying a lovely Appaloosa Gelding. I know he was bred in the Channel Islands and have been searching the net to see if I can find out more about him. So please can someone tell me where to look.? I seem to have found lots of different registers for appaloosa's but I need to know if there is a central registry for ALL Appy's. I'm so confused.! (doesn't take much !):o

Do you have info from his papers? Who his Sire or Dam are? Or any of his breeding history? If you could find out that info it would help you greatly. We have an Appy gelding who is registered with the British Appaloosa Society but we don't have any history on his breeding either apart from the papers we recieved when we bought him that only states Irish descent Cob Gelding Spot 13.2hh and we have since had him remeasured as he obviously looked bigger than the other 13.2's in the yard and he is actually 14hh.

Do you know if his Appy papers state any breeding history?

Hi Shanik
No I don't have the papers atthe moment. He arrives with me in 2 weeks, but meanwhile the owner has sent the papers off to be re-registered as we live in France and he has to now have french papers. So I will have more details when the papers come back.
Thanks

HI Pandora,

as you live in France it might not be worth registering them in the Uk,
but the registers in the UK are

The British Appaloosa Society (BAPS)
www.appaloosa.org.uk

Appaloosa Horse Club Uk (ApHCUK)
www.aphcuk.org
These you will need papers to register, thats if your horse is eligable

there is also
The spotted horses and Pony society (SHAPS)
(sorry dont know there web address) but any spotted equine can register with these

and the main one for ''worldwide'' appaloosas

Appaloosa Horse Club (APHC)
again that is if your horse is eligable,
www.appaloosa.com

Im in Spain now, (came over from the UK 2 years ago, along with my 2 appaloosas) they are both registered with BAPS, ApHCuk, and APHC,
and I have bought 2 appys here, both bred in Spain and they are registered with APHC

The 2 foals we have just bred will only be registered with APHC as its not worth me registering them in the UK

try contacting these people, they live in France and breed Appalooas, so they should be a great help,
www.ducarme.fr

lets us know how you get on, cant wiat to see photos of him
